Molar pregnancy?

I had a d&c last wednesday due to a partial molar pregnancy.  I am still confused on this condition!!!  Anyone out there know what i am going through?

This is so very rare I believe and I am so very sorry you were one of the unlucky ones.  Due to the condition being rare I believe that the professionals even find it hard to pin point why it happens in pregnancies.  However to ease your mind and for some light reading I found this site helpful. thanks everyone for your input!!  This is such a confusing condition! Glad i have people to talk to.  At least we did get to see the baby on u/s around 9 weeks. Unfortunatly at around 14 weeks u/s showed no baby.  Dr. explained it that baby was consumed by mass of placenta, as placenta rapidly overgrows in a molar pregnancy.  It is very confusing and now i seem to be having problems from the d&c.  I started have severe cramping yesterday and it has been almost 2 weeks since d&c. Going to dr. today!  Wish me Luck!

I have heard several different explanations to this.  One is that it is just abnormal cell growth and it mimmicks pg symptoms and the other is that it was a baby and it had something really wrong with it and the cells kept growing.  Sorry I'm not more help.  I have a friend who had what doctor's called a molar pg and she now has 3 kiddos, so don't loose hope!

FROGIN, It's been a year and a half now, how long has your hcg levels been 0?  Did you have to have chemo and/or chest x-ray?

I just recently found I had a molar pregnancy when I went to get an ultrasound for the light spotting that I was having.  The doctor could not find a baby an sympathetically said, "there is no baby, there never was."  If anyone is going through this I know that it is personally the hardest thing I have ever dealt with.  I went from disbelief, anger towards God and then to blaming myself that maybe I could have somehow prevented this.  I feel that the only way I can really get over this is by doing it again. Except that I cannot get preganant again for at least a year.  With the fear of cancer and this possibly happening again or miscarrying,  I just feel so so depressed.  I just want others to know that there are others going through this and you're not alone.

I had a moler pregnancy in Nov 2005, I was 13 wks when I went for my first scan and was told there was no baby and that it was a moler pregnancy, my partner and I were devestered as we had had a miscarriage in the January,  It was the worst time of my life,I was tested for 6mths then and was lucky as my levels were very low from the begining and stayed low and I was given the all clear.

By Nov 2006 I was pregnant again I did worry about another moler pregnancy happening again, the hospital gave me a 8 week scan and all was good as we were told it was a baby and by 12 weeks we could see the baby  which was fab. I gave birth to a beautiful healthy little boy in August who is now 19 weeks old, I also have a four year old,  my sister in law also had a moler and has had two children since so there are some happening endings to the sad stories please try and stay possitive if I can help you in anyway then please feel free to email me back at anytime.

I know exactly how u feel, i wnet thru the same in dec, the week b4 xmas.its devastating, and 6 weeks later im still struggling to get over it.im currently sending my first sample away for my hcg levels so hoping that goes well is keeping my mind occupied.its horrible because the doctors wouldnt fully explain what was happenin, it was thru the internet that i learnt wat i know.its such a scary thing when they mention cancer, after just losing ur baby which is bad enought then u learn all the further complications.just want to say to everyone think positive, its hard to but most stories r sucesssful and cancer is rare. Youre not alone.

hi i had a miscarriage in november 2007 then found out i was pregnant again in january 2008 so i was over the moon 2 weeks after my period was due i was felling really ill with bad pains in my stomach so i when 2 see my GP who sent me 2 the hospital 4 a scan that showed the gestation sack was misshaped witch is a sign of miscarriage so i was sent home and told if i have not bleed and lost the baby in 10 day 2 go back so in 10 day i was back and had anther scan this showed that the baby had started 2 grow but still had no heart beat so i was told again i was still going 2 miscarry due 2 the sack being the wrong shape any way this went on till i was 12 week when i went for another scan due 2 brown coloured blood and bad pain in my belly this showed a molar pregnancy so i had blood test 2 confirm this that night the hospital photo to explain my hcg levels were so high that i had 2 go for a d&c the next day
any way i went and had this d&c and had problems in theta my stomach would not contract and i was hemmrage the next day i was sent home but continued 2 bleed for another 2 weeks so i was called back in for another scan which showed that there was still some molar tissue left behind so another d&c was arranged for the next day anyway the 2nd d&c was on the 12th march and i was told it was a partial mole that had change in 2 a complete molar so i had 2 have blood and urine follow up for the next 6 months but my blood came back my hcg levels are back 2 normal now so i only have the urine follow ups now this was my 5th pregnancy as i had 3 healthy pregnancy and 1 miscarriage and then the molar pregnancy I'm only 24 and i still want another baby but i going 2 wait now all throw this molar pregnancy i want 2 be on my own so i went throw it on my own and i knew if i kneaded any 1 my partner was there for me but he agreed with me on most things he didn't like the idea of me going throw the d&c alone but it was the only way i could cope with what was happen 2 me i hope this helps any 1 who's going throw the same as I'm still not over it and i think its going 2 take a while 2 get back 2 normal

I had a molar pregnancy back in 2003, I was like 11 weeks and had started feeling very sick with blinding headaches, and had been spotting, i was sent back home and told if i kept bleeding to go to the emergency room and once i got there is when they told me it was a moler pregnancy and i did not know what was going on, to make a long story short, i had the d&c, but my levels did not stay down and i did have to take the chemo, they were given to me in the form of injections, i had to go one a week for 6 months and then for the next six months i went every 2 weeks to be monitered to make sure they did not go back up.  I was clear after a year.  I have since had a beautiful daughter who is now 3 years old.  So you really can still have a beautiful child aftter going through this.

I had a complete molar pregnancy back in 1978 after having a healthy daughter who was 18 months old at the time.  I had a D&C at 16 weeks and then a repeat one about a month after to be sure all was gone.  Watched my HCG for a year and it always stayed normal.  I went on to have 2 more beautiful children.  As devestating as it is at the time, it's a forgiving thing because it doesn't usually turn into cancer and it doesn't usually affect your fertility.  Hang in there.  You'll be fine.

I agree the allot of Dr. are not informed allot on the moler pregnacy! I had one a year ago last mth. I was simply told to not to have anymore children or the poss. of them being deformed or the same thing happening again are very high. So they sced to have my tubes burnt.  I went to get my levels checked for a mth after my dnc and they came back down to normal. I was never told to get check ups after wards or any type of info more about this was given.
I sense the surgery have had allot of abdominal pains  off and on  which landed me in the hospital the other night i was told by some nurses that they cant believe i went so long with out having and exam or having my levels checked. They all just last week had a seminar about Moler Pregnancy's that all the Dr. and Nurses had to attend they have discovered allot more about it and how dangerouse it really is and how imp it is to have these sched check ups and what not. The nurse i spoke with had just lost her friend last yr from cancer that was due to a molor pregnacy , the had the molor preg. five yrs back and died last yr from cancer she didn't realize she had do to no check ups by time they found what was wrong it was to late they couldnt fight it.
I was also told you  need to see a specialist in this not just your family Dr. and to be referred to one this is very imp. Normall Dr. do not know what to look for and can miss the cancer. She told me the hospital I was at which is known to be a pretty good one dose not even know what to look for or know how to treat it.
So long story I'm on my way to seek proper treatment and exams , the hospital ran and ultrasound and blood work and found nothing wrong with me sent me home with some urinary track med and some pain meds?? although the pee test showed no signs of urinary track infections.
SO be careful ladies demand proper treatment it could cost you your life.

I just was told I have a moler pregnancy on Monday. No Baby!!. Is all I heard. I have a doctors appt on Fri. Any recommendations on the questions I should ask. I want to make sure I get the proper treatment.

When I went to my first scan  I was pregnant about 13 weeks, I was told  baby’s heart beat stop when it was 7 weeks, and I had a d&c in February and doc said everything is fine with your D&C, you can try for the next baby after your first period. I received a letter from hospital in March 27th said that, my test result shown that I have a molar pregnancy. I am so confused,   how they did not see in ultrasound that I have molar pregnancy’s. I have no idea what to do; I have to wait until my appointment. I just feel so depressed, I found out on the net says it does turn into cancer. My d&c was about 1.5 month ago so I am not too sure, if I am late for anything. Also after D&C I did not bleed or anything. Has anyone gone through the same things, could you please inform me, it’s been so stressful to wait until see the doc. Tank you so much for all your help in advance
