Mom has shingles

Mom has shingles

I was diagnosed with shingles by my doctor a week ago and assured that I was not contagious. However, I'm rather concerned after doing some research on the Internet. I have a nine-month-old daughter. She has not had the chicken pox vaccine. Is there any way she could contract chicken pox from my shingles? I am breastfeeding her so I figured she would get some antibodies from me but I'm not sure. What kind of precautions do I need to take?

My husband got shingles when my daughter was just 6 weeks old. We were told that she could get the Chicken pox. They just told us to make sure he washed his hands when taking her, not kiss her until he was done with the medicine and also make usre there was no sking to skin contact (shirt off). As long as she does not touch the affected area you should be ok but what my ped said when I was sick as they presume your child is exposed. She will be fine even if she gets the C. Pox. Stay positive and do not worry too much. :)
