Morning Sickness?

by shamanda, Mar 29, 2007 12:00AM
This might be a really dumb question, but what does morning sickness feel like?  Is it really obvious (well, if you're throwing up, I know it is), or can it be more subtle?  I'm about 5 weeks pregnant, and I've been feeling kind of nauseous off and on throught the middle of the day.  I haven't thrown up and it comes and goes.  I'm not sure if that's morning sickness, or if it will be undeniable once it really gets here.  Thanks!

That could very well be morning sickness.  It effects everyone differently.  I get severe morning sickness (24/7) and actually end up losing wieght.  However, I've had friends who just felt a little off, or particular foods sounded gross, or smells got to them.

Best wishes and hope it doesn't get any worse for you.

Hi, my morning sickness with this pregnancy started out like that too....nothing major right at first.  I had slight nausea start around 5 weeks and didnt actually vomit till 6 weeks.  Good luck with your pregnancy!

Oh girl, that's "mild" morning sickness!  LOL!  You are lucky at this point and hopefully it won't get any worse.  I am 10 wks pg and my "full-blown" morning sickness started when I hit the 6 week mark.  I was sick everyday for a few weeks, but it seems this week it comes and goes.  I was really sick on Tuesday (morning/noon/night), but yesterday and today I have felt much better, not 100%, but definitely better.  My mom and I joked that my little one must have been growing something really important on Tuesday and I had a hormone surge, thus making me so sick! LOL!  We both think is a boy!  Guess we'll see!  My advice to you...eat even if you don't feel like eating.  Eat crackers all day.  My RE said it's extremely important to keep your blood sugar on an even keel or you will be even more sick if you don't.  I know eating is the complete opposite of what you want to do when you are sick, but find things that 1/2 way agree with you and nibble on that stuff all day.  Good luck to you on your 9 month journey!  Keep us posted!

Yes, that is morning sickness.
That is exactly how I was feeling at 5 weeks as well.
It didn't seem to get worse until about 8 weeks through 10 weeks was the toughest.  I haven't thrown up w/this pregnancy at all...just nausea, and usually cannot eat dinner.....Feeling better though at 13 weeks, still so tired, I just feel like I'm dragging.  Can't wait to put the kids to bed, so I can go to sleep, but it is only 3:30!  lol!  bummer....
Congrats!

That's morning sickness.  I am nauseaus every day.  I have only thrown up a few times, and that is after I drink milk or yogurt.  I do find myself gagging at food commercials!  But the nausea is pretty much with me 24/7.  I am now 8w3d and the nausea began for me at 6w or so.
