My 3month old throws up and it comes out of his nose and mout? Why does that hap

Every since my baby was born he threw up and it comes out of his nose and mouth. It doesnt just happen every now and then. But all the time. It freaks me out because i dont want him to choke or not be able to breath or something. And it also scares him cause if he not cru=yin he starts cryin then. Sometimes he be gaspin for air when that happens. Is there a way to get that to stop. His doctor dont know why that happens. I guess thats what you get when you have military doctors.

My DD had projectile vomit at that age. However she didnt do it all the time, only once in a while. My Dr said she was probably just drinking to fast. This only happened once I stopped breastfeeding .

CPR is great but I have to say when my kids are choking even on something small I panic and all thoughts of anything fly right out the window with me.  My son had a cold or something a couple weeks ago and as he was eating he choked a little on something and I just picked him up and threw him over my arm and kind of hit his back.  I am not sure if that was right but that is what I did in a panic.  It has been a while since I had CPR training though.  I do agree it is great but like I said it is hard to remember in a panic situation (at least for me anyway)

I would have his espohagus checked out. There is a flap called the epiglotis that may not close properly after a feeding causing the milk to be pushed back with such force that it comes out the mouth and nose.
I was born with that condition and vomited daily until my Mother took me to a doctor who dignosed me properly.
I am now 30 and have no problems.

Your esophagas (sp) branches out to your nasal cavaties and your mouth.  SO that would explain the vomit coming out of his nose.  You really cant do anything about that.  When i throw up it ususally comes out of my nose too.  Unlike adults kids dont know what is happening to them so when something is coming out of their nose he probably gets scared and gasps for air.  Poor baby...  As long as you are with him while he is doing this he should not choke.

ALL YOU MOMMIES OUT THERE SHOULD SERIOUSLY GET TRAINED IN INFANT/TODDLER CPR!!!!

It is a class you take to learn how to safe the life of your babies, children.  You only have to get recertified 1x a year.

My now 4yr old did that to the point she did stop breathing.  She was dx with reflux apnea and was put on a apnea machine that went off every time she threw up or stoped breathing, she was also put on zantac and we put rice cereal in her bottles which helped alot.  That all lasted til she was 7months then was able to get off the monitor and just take zantac when she ate,but still had a thicken bottle.   She is fine now but up until a year ago we could not take her out to eat-she would throw up in the restarant.   I would ask for a referral to see a pediatric gastro doc.  I know the military can be though but my dh always told me to fight them for what you want.
good luck.

My daughter did that until she was about 5 months old....she was born 3 months early.  We took her to the DR multiple times...he said she was fine.  While she was in the NICU, she was on acid reflux med...she did not spit up at all with the meds.  She did grow out of it and now she never spits up.  Just a little advise, keep the nose suction thingy with you at all times. When my dd couldn't breathe, we would clear her nose.  It did wonders.
Good Luck!!   I know it is hard.  We wouldn't leave her with a babysitter at all until she grew out of it.  I was worried that They wouldn't know what to do if she started choking on her spit up....even the grandparents.

My DD did this when she was around that age.  However she did choke and stopped breathing while she was sleeping.  She was diagnosed with reflux apnea I think is what they called it.  She was on a aleep apnea monitor for 5 months and had spent 7 days in the hospital because I did not know how long she had stopped breathing for.  She is now healthy and 10yo. Later I also found out that her formula was causing it because she was allregic to the soy in it.  You should sit down and logg what the child does all day and when is the child doing it more.  It could be from the formula.
Good Luck!

Depending on the age of your baby, I was 8 weeks old when I was diagnosed with Pyloricstenosis and had to have emergency surgery to fix the problem.  My mother says I was projectile vomiting to the ceiling of our home and would not keep one thing down.  I am now 36 and just fine.  On the other hand, my third son spent the first 8 months of his life spitting constantly and more so when I put him on formula which made the dr. look more closely and then he was diagnosed with Acid Reflux.  He has since been on Prevacid once a day and is now 22 months.  He is doing fine, and we keep trying to see if he will outgrow it, but each time with withhold meds for a week or so, then the throwing up, burping, hiccups, and all other symptoms reappear.  Hopefully this has been of some help to you.  If you do not get the answers you are seeking from your dr. go with your gut and request a second opinion, mothers do know best, even if you are a first time mother.  Let us know the outcome.
