My child is part goat!!

My child is part goat!!

I don't know what to do with my DD. She is always chewing on something and she is almost five.
I am constantly telling her to quit putting things in her mouth, but she turns around and does it again. She will eat anything, even stuff that is bad for her.
I feel horrible because she can't even color with crayons without me watching her like a hawk because they will end up being eaten.
She lives in the refrigerator and I'm afraid she will be obese, but how do you tell a kid to stop eating. I even thought that if she was going to eat than I will put the goodies way up high and make sure there is plenty of fruits and veggies for her to eat and she does. She eats them all in a day! I also call her the condiment queen because she loves anything that is used on top of something.
I don't know if it is an oral fixation thing that she has going on because I have that too or if it is because she is lacking some sort of vitamin or something. any advice??

Sound like she has PICA.  Google PICA for symptoms,  there are many causes,  especially iron deficiancy.

Best wishes.

I think that this is very common in children that age. Some kids are just worse than others.

Does anyone have any ideas about what I can give to her to chew on I guess, without making her fat, unhealthy and rotting her teeth?
Do you think that me giving her things to eat will just condone her behavior?
I bite my nails all the time and I hate it,I noticed she is starting to bite hers too and I want her to stop before it becomes a habit so I want to replace it with something else I guess.

My sister's daughter was the same way... she outgrew it eventually.
She use to give her daughter celery and carrot sticks whenever she was chewing on an unacceptable item.  (She'd say "no, no... we don't chew on crayons.  Have a piece of celery instead.")  Celery is one of those negative calorie items, so it wouldn't make her fat, and the carrots were just as nutritious.

RockRose- I just googled PICA and it does sound worth looking into, especially the part about eating dirt. DD loves it!  My grandmother actually had that during pregnancy. I wonder if it is hereditary. DD has a doc app. next week so that is soemthing I am going to bring up. Thank you for the info!! :)

tmv- I do hope your right. I hear of kids in school eating paste and things so I hope it is something she will grow out of. Thank you!

Thanks- I will give celery a try. Thank goodness she eats anything! She loves celery too. :)
I was concerned about too many carrots because she loves the little ones in the bag and someone told me they have a lot of sugar. I don't know whether it's true or not, but I guess mixing up a few things would be better.

I read an article in Reader's Digest about carrots- here's some in part:
"Beta-Carotene for Better Blood Sugar
Carrots perfectly illustrate the difference between the glycemic index (GI) and the glycemic load (GL). When the GI first made waves among health enthusiasts, carrots got a bad rap for raising blood sugar. That's because the type of sugar they contain is transformed into blood sugar very rapidly -- almost as fast as table sugar. But since the amount of sugar is low, carrots are still on the menu.
Thank goodness they are, because they're one of the richest sources of beta-carotene, which is linked to a lower risk of diabetes. One study found that people with the highest blood levels of beta-carotene had 32 percent lower insulin levels (suggesting better blood sugar control) than those with the lowest beta-carotene levels. Like most vegetables, carrots are also a good source of beneficial fiber."

And afterall, "goats" (even part goats!) like carrots!! LOL!!! :o)
Have a great night!
