My 2 1/2 year old tells me each time she pees, kind of asking for permission, and if she is wearing a diaper she goes right after announcing it . She loves to wear her big girl underwear and she does not have accidents when she wears them, she simplySimply sleep does not go. She is able to hold it for a whole day, or until I put her diaper on. She tells me that she wants to pee pee, then runs to the potty, takes her underwear off and sits, and sits, and sits until she gets boared, then goes on playing, then tells me she wants to go, runs to her potty.... That goes on for hours. I have no clue what to do. Help! How do I explain to her that it is ok to go on the potty.
Go be near her with a bowl and a measuring cup (with a pouring edge like a pitcherPitcher plant), when she goes onto the potty. Put some water into the cup, and when she is sitting on her chair, say, "Let me help you. Here, watch. When the water goes from the cup into the bowl, you pee into your potty." Pour it from the cup into the bowl, letting her hear the tinkling sound, and saying, "OK, here we go!" If she in fact has water in her bladder at that moment, this might encourage her. A friend's mom did this by saying, "Let me help you," and turning on the sink faucet. She was then able to pee in the toilet along with the water sound. Same kind of thing.
