Anybody else who gave birth in the last few weeks/months losing hair rapidly? I remember this from when I had my girls but thought I had somehow escaped it this time around! NOPE. Losing hair...it's everywhere. I know I have read that you lose less hair when you're pregnant and that you just lose the hair you would have lost during that time so it seems like a lot. Basically just wanting to know who else shares this lovely post partum issue! I don't like it. I have loved my thick, shiny, healthy hair. It's going away now ):
YES....this totally happened to me...and it stopped falling out when i got pregnant again. It happened to my mom too...when she was preggo with me. She thought it was her shampoo and called the company..lol...they asked if she had a baby...so it's pretty commonCommon cold.
Then when it grew back...i had littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys baby hairs everywhere...
Oh...the joys!?!?!?!?
Oh, JOY! I think I had those baby hairs come in like that, too. I hate it! I love my long, thick hair right now. It has never looked nicer. Bye bye beautiful mane ):
YES....me too!!! It is all over my shower and bathroom. It comes out in chucks when I dyed it the other day. You poor thing.....it will stop falling out soon! I remember this happening after I gave birth to my 1st baby. We must suffer, lol!!! See kids are already making us pull our hair out!
I'm just praying mine starts falling out! lol I've got this terribly thick mess of hair that is dealing with a bad cutCuts and puncture wounds right now and the only thing that will help is some majorMajor tears Major-gesic thinning or some superfast growing!
I had that with Madelyn! It is a real pain, I had to rinse out the shower everyday. I'm wondering if it will be the same, better, or worse this time around. I thnik it is pretty commonCommon cold..I have pretty thick hair, so I was happy to see it go, even though it was a mess having a ton of loose hairs all over the place, in the tub, bed, car, etc...
How noticeable is this, can people tell? Do I have to do a comb over once I have this baby? I love my pregnancy hair but I have been dreading this hair thing afterwards. How much actually falls out?
Just for your info...I too lost LOTS of hair after both of my babies, but with my 2nd, it was AWFUL, and apparently it is a symptom for Hypothyrodism, and that TOO is commonCommon cold after childbirth, so if you have any other symptoms, get your thyroid levels checked. Hopefully it is just normal Post Partum hair loss, but better to be safe than sorry!
Best wishes to you!
Oh yes--this has happened to me with every pregnancy; my hair grows SOOO thick while pregnant--like too thick to even fit in one of those clips when I want to put it up.
Then when my baby is 3 months old, it all falls out. When I shower and rinse my conditioner out, I will just get TONS of hair in my hands. My DH will clean out the drain and say, "Looks like there is a kitten in here!!!!"
I am at a point now where I WISH it would fall out a little---its really thick and frizzy, and I have it to curl it in two layers.
Hey, just wanted see if I could get any ideas from anyone about why I'm STILL having this problem 8 years after the birth of my last baby. I have had my thyroid levels checked and they are good. What else would cause it? I have the baby hairs everywhere....I have huge chunks of hair in the shower and in my comb. I did cut it off short and it didn't seem to come out as bad. But, I kinda wanted to keep it long. Is there a lack of a certain vitamin or something that could also cause this? I REALLY don't think I should still be having this problem after 8 years!!lol
Yes, it took 3 months with each of my babies. Then all of a sudden, there is hair everywhere. I don't have really thick hair. It's not thin, but I like it to look thicker and fuller. It grew really thick, long, shiny and beautiful when I was pregnant. It has all of a sudden lost that luster, gets tangled easily and falls out everywhere. I am glad that I am not alone though...unfortuntate for all of us I guess! I know it is a common thing to get hypothyroidism after having babies too, but I don't think I have that. I hope not!!
It does get better. My husband also makes the comments as it isn't just in the shower, my hair ends up everywhere!! I rival our border collie in my shedding! My munchkin is almost a year old and it has slowed a bit. I have super thick hair anyway, so I don't notice a difference. I did hack over 18 inches off when CJ was 6 months old and had it thinned dramatically and it still wasn't noticeable.
As for ways to increase your luster, if you aren't nursing or pregnant you can take vitamin E to help. And per direction from my stylist, I don't wash my hair everyday. It helps keep natural oils where they should be and makes my hair much healthier.
I am nursing :\ So I guess there is no hope until I am done nursing. I'm due for a cut anyhow. That is, if I have any hair left by the time I have it cut! I joke about how I'm going to wake up bald one of these mornings, or have to have a comb over. Haha!
I brush my hair throughout the day to help minimize the pounds of hair in the shower. Also, thinning out via a haircut will probably make you feel better anyhow. Lighter, saucier, like a new woman!
Invest in a good shampoo and conditioner, perhaps a lightly scented gloss spray and voila!
Good ideas! I'm looking for some new hair products anyhow. Any suggestions anyone?? I hadn't thought about a gloss spray, but I'm thinking I'll for sure have to go out and get one. A new haircut always makes ya feel good anyhow. Problem solved! ;)
My hair grows like mad! I took off 20 inches after I had T and still had enough to pull back into a bun. I let it grow for 2.5 years and when I got it cut after CJ and had that 18 inches cut off, I still had enough to pull back then. It is getting too long again(not near as long as it was, but i loved the shorter haircut), so i need to go back in for a cut. My MIL gets me a gift certificate for my hair salon as one of my Christmas gifts.
And to be honest, I have used all those fu-fu salon products and to be honest I still love the regular brands like Pantene or Dove. Lately I have been using my dh's Head and Shoulder's for dry scalp and the matching conditioner. My hair looks the best it has in a long time. I run my ceramic flat iron through it and I look like I walked off a hair commercial set : ) FINALLY I have hair I love. For years it was way long, too hard to straighten, fanatically curly (still is if I don't straighten it), thick and somewhat course. Now with it thinned out I can flat iron it in minutes and it moves and looks great.
I have to see what kind of gloss spray I have. I actually dropped a little money on that from the salon last time I was there, but it is light yet helps in the humidity, smells nice and gives a light gloss.
My baby is 14 weeks and my hair is definitely falling out. It started around week 11. My pregnancy rash (on my hand) also came back. I noticed stretch marks after haivng the baby and not any time before. AND...this is really wierd. My vision has improved.
Jenshim-it's your hormones trying to get back to a normal. Some woman have told me that prenatal vitamins have helped them. I took them anyhow bc I was bf'ing. Anyway, I lost a bunch, but still had plenty bc of my hair being extra thick. Good luck to you.
I have 2 boys. During mt preg, my hair got long, and I always had a good amount of thickness.
After giving birth, it was coming out everywhere. I would actually avoid brushing it, using conditioner. After my 1 son, I looked like I was receeding if I pulled my hair back. It grows back, it is just scary
My hair started falling out a few weeks after my son was born. My doctor and I figured it was probably due to a horomonal imbalance. I went and got a vitamin B-complex shot and my hair quit falling out and started growing back in. I was so happy as my hairline had dropped back by 2 inches at that point. 1y and 8m later my hair is just as full as when I was a teen and I am pregnant again. I am still getting the vitamin shots as I found so many other benefits as well.
Hmm...vitamin B shots? I should check into those. Does it help your hair? If so, I need that! I woke up this morning and had hair all over my pillow and on Brody. I had to pick it off his clothes and between his fingers. I hate it!
I would just like to say that i to am going through the same thing i have a five month old baby girl Savannah and my hair has been falling out for two months!! It is very emotional! My hair is everywhere in the shower and in my brush all over my clothes my room its awful!! I have had all of my tests ran and have been to the doc he says its normal it just is really aggravating!! anyways I just wanted to say to everyone keep your heads up!! I am trying its just hard!!
Jenshim, I think you totally jinxed me! I have long dark hair... (middle of my back)... and its now getting everywhere. *tear* I'm so worried that I'm going to be nakkid! Lilith was born 8/21 (she's 7 weeks now)...
Then when it grew back...i had little baby hairs everywhere...
Oh...the joys!?!?!?!?
Best wishes to you!
i didn't know u lost more with each child....what the heck?!?!
i lost soooooooooooooooo much with my 1st!
