My sons circumcision

My sons circumcision

My son is now 8 months.   He was circumsized when he was 3 days old.   I was not shown how to properly can for it (just told to keep it moist with vasoline)
When he was about 3 months old I repeatly asked the dr. to look at it and make sure it was ok.
Well in an unrelated incident, I got upset with her and switched drs.
My son went to his new dr at about 4  months.  This dr. asked how his circumcision was and I said fine.  He checked anyway,...thank god...the skin had healed back to the head.  He pulled back real hard on it and it "broke" There was blood and puss,....Sorry to gross you guys out.
Now I wonder if enough was cut off.  I visited my friend the other day who has a 6 month old.  She changed his diaper while I was there and I noticed she didn't really have to pull his skin back on his penis.
When I change my baby, sometimes the head of the penis is so "hidden"  I really have to pull back on it.  Now I have noticed if he's "a little happy" when I change him, everything is ok.
Is this normal??
I'm sorry to be so blunt, but this is my first baby and I've only been with my husband, so I am not a penis expert...lol.
Thanks

Chances are it was just adhesions, something that is very common. It isn't too often when someone has to be recircumcised, but it does happen. Once the "fat pad" lessens, it makes a world of difference. As they "grow into" their manhood, the appearance looks more like a circumcised pee-pee (lol).

a friend of mines baby was VERY chubby and yes they get chubby down there.....our pedi called it DPS...disapearing penis syndrome....yes he has a sense of humor....he said that when babies get the chubba bubba legs and groin area that it will actually suck their little pee pee's back in, so to just gently press on either side so it will pop back out to clean it.

I'm glad you got a new dr....the first one didn't seem to concerned with your little guy.

I am no expert either.  However, I never had to pull the skin back, at least not after the healing was complete at about 2 weeks.  My son is now 5 months.  Did the new doctor say all was ok?

The doctor said it looks good.  When I asked him if was done right, he said "Not everyone is perfect"
His other dr.  Told me when I was going to her, that he was just chubby in that area and it would go away as he got older.  That didn't make sense to me.  I mean he is a big boy, but everything even's out.  He's 29 1/2 inches and weighs 24 pounds.
I heard from someone that you can have them recircumsized, but at 8 months, I don't know.
Not to be giving TMI, but my husband is the same way and it really bothers him bad.  He is very self consious about it.  I could care less.  But it makes me wonder if I should do something for my son so he doesn't end up feeling like his dad.

I have never heard of them being chubby down there.  My son is 5 months, 28 inches and weighs about 18 pounds.  Funny story:  The other night in the bathtub, he found his manhood.  I dont think he did it on purpose, but he is at the stage where he grabs whatever you put in his hand and doesnt want to let go.  Well, he grabbed it and didnt want to let go.....just like a man!

I woudl ask for a second opinion  (or maybe ask yourself and your husband - if there is something that can be done would you do it)  there shouldn't be extra skin - that's the point of the circumcision!   Maybe they can remove some extra .
If your husband is self concious that tells you that it will be an important issue for the boy!
Good Luck

I have three sons, and yes there is such a thing as being chubby down there. Its just basically extra fat on the pubis bone, a Fat Pad they call it, and it can cause a Circumsision to grow back together if you do not keep it apart. I experienced this with my second son.  He is now 4 and everything is fine now. I am now going through this with my 3rd son as well, but his has to do with surgery he just had a couple of months ago. Its fairly common, and nothing to worry about as long as you keep up with it untill the skin fully heals.

Thank you for the little bit of reassurance.
You know girls worry about their hair, makeup and clothes.
All men care about is how perfect or unperfect their penis is.

lol,...My son does the same thing in the tub.
His new thing now is when I'm changing him he'll move his hand back and forth across everything,...almost like he's scratching himself.
And when I put the new diaper on, he won't move his hand, so I put it on anyway, and he looks like Al Bundy.  Then I have to pull his hand out.
Oh, well MEN!!!

I totally agree with Andi and Nanakay. My son's penis needed to be pulled every time I took him to his doc for the first 8 weeks. It would bleed and he'd cry. She wanted me to do it and I said no way, I'd pay the copay to bring him back every two weeks to have her do it. She called them adhesions. And then his penis started to disappear. I brought him in panicked that he had the smallest penis on earth! She said it was a "fat pad", like how their feet don't look like they have arches, that's a fat pad too. She said it will totally go away. Don't worry. Sounds like you are with a better dr. now.

Thanks!!  I am not too concerned with it now, because it is completely healed, just needs pulled back.  I am just thinking about the future and if he still has that prob.
But if you guys are right, and it's just a fat pad, then it should be ok when he's older unless he's overweight.
OHHHH, the worries of motherhood have just started!!!!!!
