Nasty Baby Rash - Caused by Whole Milk?

Nasty Baby Rash - Caused by Whole Milk?

Hello everyone!  Hope you are all doing well!  Pardon my daily postings, but I'm on bedrest/short term disability with work now, so have LOTS of free time and love hearing from you all!!!

Ok, my son is about a year old, and we have just started weaning him off formula and onto whole milk (2 oz milk per 10 oz bottle so far).  I don't know if there's any correlation, but he's started to develop this glowing-red, diaper rash - all over his buns and even on his poor little doodles.  I can tell it's very painful for him, and I am trying to figure out what's causing it - the milk is the only new intro, but obviously we have to continue with it.  Anyone else have this happen, and if so, what cream did you use?  Nothing so far has worked - A&D, Dessitin, Generic brands....nothing.  Poor kid is in agony.

Could well be the milk. I love the gerbera oatmeal diaper cream, or good old sudacreme.

Could he be teething? My children always got bad rashes with it and with any juices that were too acidic-pineapple, oj, etc. I loved the desitin, but with a dark red flare up, this may sound crazy, but blotting milk of magnesia with a cotton ball will be very soothing. Leave diaper off until it dries. If the rash continues without clearing up, let the pediatrician know bc it can develop into a yeast infection. Best wishes and hope it get's cleared up soon.

If you think it's the milk, take him off of it for a month, and try again. See what happens. Sometimes food allergies are manifested by diaper rash. My sister's baby has that problem when she eats anything she's sensitive to. You can keep giving him formula as long as you need to. You could also try lactose free milk, or soy milk if you think that would help.
