Hello,
I just want to say congrats to all those who just got their BFP's and good luck to all the TTC'S out there! So i had my DD 10 weeks ago and I recently got my papPap smear Pap smears and cervical cancer smear results back from my post partum check up and I don't really understand it, I can't call the doctor casue he is out this week. So it reads, papPap smear Pap smears and cervical cancerbenignBenign ear cyst or tumor Benign positional vertigo, cellular changes, no cancer. So I understand it all but the cellular changes. What does this mean and has anybody had this result? I can only think that it means that I have cells that are changing and that can't be good right? See how my imagination runs away from me....lol. Any help would be very appreciatted.
Tiffany
I had several abnormal pap smears that read "Atypical, bordering on mild dysplasia" several years ago. It turned out to be nothing. My dr. said sometimes having something such as a yeast infection, sex, a period, etc. close to your pap can cause abnormal results with nothing actually being wrong. All those things alter the cells on your cervix and that can result in an abnormal pap. Good luck.
A post partum PAP will always show benign cellular changes due to the recent activity of having given birth. Wait six months and repeat and probably all will be alright
I screen pap smears for a living, your cellular changes are just because you just had a baby. your hormone levels are different and the cells change from one cell type to another when you are postpartum. it is absolutely nothing to worry about. it's absolutely normal. and if you breast feed, your cells will continue to look like that a for a while longer. once your hormones get back to normal, your cells will be back to they were pre-pregnancy/postpartum. hope you see this since i didn't see it until friday. :) congrats on your baby!
Do a search for "benign cellular changes and pap smear", "BCC pap smear". You'll get dozens of results.
Your doctor will advise you what to do at this point. This is a very common finding and most often due to mild inflammation.
