Need advice

Hello!

This time last year I found out I was pregnant  Then in January 2006 I miscarried the baby.

Well, I found out I was pregnant in October and once again my husband and I were delighted!! I went to my first doctor's appointment in November and had an ultrasound that it showed the gestational sac but no fetal pole.  My doctor said that there was nothing to worry about because maybe I wasn't as far along as we thought.

I started bleeding and I bled quite a bit. So I called my doctor's office and yesterday I went back for another ultrasound and there is still no fetal pole.  Another doctor was on call at the office and he believes that I have had a Blighted Ovum which he explained to me that I have had another miscarriage......  But he ordered blood work to check my levels

So get a call from my doctor's office coming home from work. the nurse proceeds to tell me that my Hcg levels are rising and my doctor wants to do another ultrasound


I really don't know what to think or do about this can you all give me some advice?

I go back to my doctor next Wednesday and have another ultrasound done. He didn't order any more blood test.

Some doctors won't consider a MC unless you fill two sanitary pads up with blood within an hour (sorry).

5 weeks is really early, I know it is easier said than done, but think positive, sometimes the power of a positive thought can cause miracles to happen.

If you do begin to bleed heavily then go to your ER just to be sure.

P.S. Brokenhearted I too had this happen when I was pregnant with my daughter, I started bleeding and cramping and come to find out I was pregnant bwith twins, and had what was called vanishing twin syndrome, I lost one baby that was what the bloos was from, they checked my HCG levels and they continued to rise, hold out hope, and please let us know how it works out for you ():-)

The only thing that concerns me is that some people have been telling me that if it is a blighted ovum that my Hcg levels will rise.....

I am sorry I hope I am not being a pest...I just am dreading going through another miscarriage.....:(

Yes that is true, but they shouldn't double, it really is a iffy situation, and unfortuantley only time will tell, I'm sorry for your worry, I know the feeling all to well, and it sucks :-(

There have been many stories like this on this site. Many ladies have been told that they are MCing, only to go back a week later and discover a HB.

I don't want to get your hopes up, but it can happen, so just think positive and take care of yourself.

When do you have to go back again for a US? Are they going to test your blood again?

well don't give up just yet!! Easier said than done I know, I too sufferd a blighted ovum, my doctor was not sympathetic at all claming there was never a baby to begein with, that is B/S. We had our words over it that is for sure, anyway I just want to say God bless and I have seen this sevral times on this site here women have been told that and then they go back and there was a healthy baby! don't give up hope

well..even i suffered from bighted ovum.In most of the cases blighted ovum is not repeated twice as i have been watching in these forums.Its a very rare occurrence of twice.I am preggy with 7 weeks and saw a heartbeat in 6th week..best of luck ..everything will be ok..dont loose hopes

You can have rising levels with a blighted ovuum, but it is not the normal doubling that is the sign of a healthy pregnancy.

I really hate the term blighted ovuum, it makes it sound like there was never a baby.  There was,he or she just passed away within a few days on conception.  

It is very early on, so try to think positive thoughts.

I am not sure if my hcg levels are doubling or not....

See the last time I had a blood test was

11/6/2006 - and the doctor said my levels were at 8000
I was suppose to be at 5 1/2 weeks.


Then the second was - 11/14/2006 - my levels were at 12,000 so I am not sure if that is doubled or not...:)

Once the numbers reach a certain level, they don't double any more.  Try not to put too much faith in the numbers, see what the next u/s suggests.  Good luck!!!

When I had my hormones check, they were at around 5,000, so yours sounds better to me. I was suppose to be around 10 weeks preg.but the baby actually died at around 7 weeks. Hang it there. My doc. told me this has happened quite a lot. You may be not be as further along as you think. I'll be thinking about you.
It sounds great that your hormones are rising!!!
