I am pregnant with my fist baby. Well, I have m/c's 2x in the past.  One was at 19 and the other at 23 yrs.  I am now 27 and I have been cleared by my dr that I am past the scare stage.  I do have a concern that I did talk with him about.  I have a total hip replacement....2 ACTUALLY.  The concern is that I did not know I was pregnant until 3 1/2 mos into this.  I also take (took) percocet 1-2 per day as needed.  Some days I did not some days I took 2 not at once.  I am so scared that this is going to affect my baby.  My dr has told me that as long as I dont abuse them....WHICH I HAVE NEVER done, that my baby should be alright.   I do not trust drs since I have had 13 surgeries on my leg and hip since I was 9yrs old......any suggestions.  My doc is really nice, I have been a sceptic of drs all my life......

I assume your doctor is telling you the truth.  Unless you were taking pain pills late in your final trimester (at which point the risk is that the baby will become addicted).  You could look up the percocet website and see what it says about taking it during pregnancy if you don't believe your doctor.

This is what I found online on www.drugs.com.  I hope this helps.

FDA pregnancy category C. Percocet may be harmful to an unborn baby, and could cause addiction or withdrawal symptoms in a newborn. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Percocet may pass into breast milk and could harm a nursing baby. Do not use Percocet without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

If your doctor is ok with you taking it then he must think the benefits outweigh the risks.  Good luck

Hi, I dont know much about your situation. I know that when I was 7 months pregnant I had a tooth pulled and I was given vicodin. They told me only to take it when the pain was unbearable because too much of it could possibly have an effect on the baby. I know that you are probably in lots of pain, my aunt had also had two hip replacements and she is in horrible pain all the time. I think that your doc knows best and you should take it as directed by the doc and cut it down more than that if you are able to. Hope everything works out for you.
