New Car Exhaust

New Car Exhaust

I am 24 weeks and just got a new car. The car only had 11 miles on it so it had to lubricate all the parts on the inside. When you exit the car it smells like burning rubber. It does have a little of a smell on the inside but I drive with the sunroof cracked and the windows slightly open. I also do not run the heat yet. I am SO nervous that this smell can hurt my baby. I read that the new car smell on the inside is toxic and have been trying baking soda and things to get rid of it, but I am very worried about this burning smell.

I don't think it will hurt the baby, however there should be no smell.

You have to bring this to the attention of the dealer immediately. I am concerned that something is rubbing and may cause a fire.

Many new car dealers have a spray aerosol they put on everything to simulate "new car smell" when they get the car. Let the car air out.

Thanks for your advice. I took it to the dealer and it was actually stickers on the engine that were burning off. They scraped them the best they could and the smell has decreased. When driving to the dealer I left the windows closed bc it was so cold and I got a burning in my throat. My husband thinks I am crazy, but I am just very concerned for the baby. Do you think I should always crack the windows and leave the heat off until the smell is gone? Thanks again!!!
