Nipples like Playtex Nurser

Nipples like Playtex Nurser

I started my baby out on "Second Nature" bottles, which she didn't seem to really like, then I switched to Ventaire--those silicone nipples they come with didn't seem to work for her either.  The Stage 1 nipples didn't give her enough, and the Stage 2 was too much.  I also tried those brown latex regular nipples on the Ventaire, but those seem to be too much for her too.  RIght now she seems to really like the Playtex Nurser nipples, but I hate the bottles--I don't like the idea of having to continue buying the inserts, and I just can't tell how much she's had to drink.  Does anyone have any ideas on a bottle that may have a nipple like the Playtex Nurser, but is a regular bottle that doesn't need an insert?  Is Avent shaped like that?  I also just saw an ad for "Soothie" bottles, has anyone tried them???  Thanks!!

I'm breastfeeding and I LOVE the playtex nurser.  It doesn't cause nipple comfusion and the fact that the liners are presterilized is my absolute favorite.
Just curios but is there any reason you don't want to use the liners?

You are so funny!I was just thinking that tooo,I'm a d-cup & in the winter I use padding so just imagine, lol, what I do that some what helps is band aids.I know 'ouch' but I use the big kind that covers nipple. When preg. belly button pops out to so they come in handy too.It sucks!Nanis

Victoria Secret IPEX Demi (for sure) has extra nipple coverage and seems to eliminate the built in thermometer problem women have. Of course after saying that, I cringe to fork over the money they cost, so maybe I should be investing in those band-aids instead!

Have you tried the Orthodontic Nipple by Playtex...it has a medium flow. Or how about the NuturaLatch Latex nipple by playtex...it comes in slow, fast and tri-cut flow rates.

I have to say, I popped this one up just to read whether or not the poster was saying, "Help, what can I do, my nipples look like saggy old Playtex Nursers."  Imagine my disappointment (LOL).

What I did was buy one of those sampler packs of various kinds of nipples and bottles, just for when my baby decides to change his mind.  The most highly recommended kind of bottle I've seen is Dr. Brown's, which has "natural flow" nipples, apparently babies on these never have spit-up problems.  If you haven't seen it, there is a really good book called "Consumer Reports Best Baby Products" that has a lot of information on pages 25-30 on bottles and nipples.  The book is I'm sure available on Amazon, and it's paperback so not very costly, and it saved us a ton of confusion at registry time.  Good luck!!!

Have you ever used the Dr Brown's??? Ive always heard people talk about how bad they are and they leak alot.  My friend used them with her baby and everytime I gave him a bottle it leaked on me and the baby. She eventually switched.  I was just wondering if anyones used them and liked them?

Interesting subject title :) I swear by Avent and Playtex bottles with the drop-ins.  I've had no problems with them leaking or holding air.  I'll be using those when my daughter arrives.

Interesting comment on Dr. Brown's.  The only rap on them I have heard is that they are hard to clean, need to be plunged out with a little brush. I haven't had my baby yet, so can't tell you from experience -- now that you have said that, maybe I'll practice with water (LOL).   Glad I got a sampler of all kinds.

I throw Dr. Brown's and all it's parts in the dishwasher...works fine unless you let the milk chunk up in there (I know I"m not the only one to find a chunky bottle behind the couch) - ha!  I really liked Dr. Brown's - and I nursed primarily for 9 months. My daughter was pretty gassy until we switched to that brand. But buy a few different types and see what works best for your baby - every baby is different.

Early January.  We weren't even willing to address the registry questions until about two weeks ago; I thought it would be too sad to take things back if something goes wrong.  But now I think things like if we don't have it all done, what if I have to go on bedrest?  So I'm glad we went through the process.  I just learned that now (at week 25) if the baby is born prematurely it has a 90% chance of surviving!  Scary to think that this baby who sometimes almost seems theoretical is already to the point where he could safely be born (albeit with preemie problems).
