Nipples

by Totti, Jul 30, 2004 12:00AM
After the birth of my second child, my left nipple seems to have "inverted".  The right one is normal but the left is alway inside. It feels a little different,as far as the texture, I guess since the other one is exposed and this one is not?? Please help me.PS I did not breast feed my second child.

There are nipple sheilds to bring out inverted nipples. They are used primarily for breastfeeding but I don't see why it wouldn't help if you just tried it even not breastfeeding. Either way, it isn't harmful to have inverted nipples. My best friend does and has since she got boobs and it's never bothered her.

As long as the nipple is not painful, irritated, spontaneously leaking fluid, or having a lump or thickening, there is probably nothing to worry about.  If the inversion happened suddenly or just recently, you do need to see your doctor and them them evalute the change.
