No Fetal Heartbeat seen on US at 6 wks???

My LMP was 6th may 07 and I had a early US on 6th June 07 which showed 1.8mm sac and on 21st June at 6wk 4 days I had US again sac measured 1.58cms (15mm) with Fetal pole and Yolk sac seen, but no heartbeat found and the sac age shows 5wk 6 days. I'm worried as the doctor didnt sound positive until HCG report showed 25950 and after 48 hrs showed 35267. Please if anyone could advise why no heartbeat is seen at 6wks 4 days. Is it normal??? Will they see it next week when i have US??? I am very tensed and want this baby anyhow...I have read that the heartbeat is seen thru US in the 6th week...I have my US again on the 2nd July I'm very tensed...Has anyone gone through the same situation...pls advise...

When I went for what I thought was my 6wk apt... they did a u/s and I only showed to be 5wks. I didn't even had a fetal pole at this point. However I went back two wks later and everything was there... Heart beat fetal pole. It's possible that maybe you just ovulated a wk later like I did. I'm now 25wks pregnant and doing great. Oh and I had regular 27-28day cycles and still ovulated a wk later.

Thanks dear, it gives me relief to know your experience, even I had regular 28 days cycle so there is a possibility I might have ovulated late as well as the Sac age shows 4 days behind. Doc has advised me a US on 2nd July when I will complete 7 weeks . Hope we see the heartbeat then, I'm praying everything goes fine. All the best for your pregnancy, it feels great right??? Is it your first baby???

Yeah, everything is going more wonderfully than I could have imagined for this pregnancy. This is my first pregnancy. I would try and not worry. I know that when I went in for my first u/s and they didn't find a heart beat I was crushed and so worried and that's when I found this site and other women who told me not too worry and that some women don't see heart beats till 8wks. But it was so hard not to worry. I even cried. But like I said I'm 25wks and 5days and going strong as ever. Is this your first pregnancy?

Honestly for me they checked for a heartbeat at about 6-7 weeks and couldn't hear anything so I had an u/s and they still didn't hear anything and the baby was very small... I don't know my numbers on my blood but it should at least double...  I ended up losing my baby, I wish you all the luck in the world though.

hi! this forum is full of people who didn't see a heart beat until much later than 6 weeks. i've been reading for months, and know that some people couldn't see it until 8 or 9 weeks. so while there is a possibility that you can miscarry (and that possibility always exists- even if you had seen a hb), there is also a good chance that your baby is OK. as for the measurements being slightly off, that is very common. my baby measured a full week behind until after 8 weeks (and i knew the conception date, so it wasn't because i ovulated late). babies do develop at their own rate, even in utero. good luck, and i hope your next ultrasound shows a strong little heart beating away. and if possible, try not to stress too much :)

You & I both are in the same boat....my last LMP was on April 24th...I found out I was pregnant on May 28th(Memorial Day) my first u/s was on June 7th now at the time I thought I was 6wks but the u/s showed me @ 5wks showing only a sac...my next u/s was on June 21st (@ 6wks or so) and it only showed a small fetal pole and yolk.  The doctor became worried because this was my second u/s and she expected to see more. She took my levels on Thursday June 21st which read 13,031and wanted to do them again within 24hrs on Friday just to see if they were rising or declining they rose to 14,811 in 24hrs, so the doctor said that is some hope and that she has seen this happen many times before.  I go for my next u/s on July 2nd as well and I'm PRAYIN' with ALL that I have that my ovulation date is all screwed up and that everything is going as it should be.  I don't know when I could have conceived but I do know the first day of my last period.  This website has really made me at ease....although I tend to worry everyday. This is my second child after 16 years...I had my first child (a son) at 17 and now that I'm 33 and married...I really want this baby.  I hope to hear from you Monday with your good news....I'll keep you in my prayers.

Yeah, this is my first pregnancy. I had 2 early miscarraiges before within 10 days from missed period. All the best and enjoy each day of your pregnancy.
