No Fetal Heartbeat

No Fetal Heartbeat

I went for my first visit last week.  Tech did a vag. u/s (although I was not experiencing any problems).  Tech indicated that she did not think it was a good pregnancy.  The sac measured at about 7 weeks, the fetal pole at 6 weeks, but she could not detect a heartbeat.  Was told to return in 7 days.  Second u/s indicated no changes in size and still no heartbeat.  I have not had any problems - no spotting or cramping, and all normal systems of pregnancy are still there (enlarged breasts, slight fatigue - this is my third pregnancy).  Dr. gave me a choice of a D&C or wait for nature to take its course.  We chose to wait.  It concerns me, after reading similar postings, that the Dr. has never taken any blood tests to check HcG levels.  I do have a tilted uterus. Any comments?

Hi,
I did have a tubal pregnancy last year after IVF w/egg donor doc. detected with a special u/s he saw a mass in my tube at the very beginning, I needed a DC but also my fertility doc. followed carefully my HCG which was dropping fast to make sure, before the DC... can't you go for an HCG blodd test now to check the level? before doing a DC?.
I just found out that I am pregnant(after 2 miscarr.) my 1st HCG 111 onMonday should have been 220 approx. wedn. was 171  have to go friday I need 300! so I understand what you are feeling.Let's send good wibes to eachother.  Good luck   Keep us posted

I know I am probably a little late in posting this, but, My best friend has a tilted uterus, and she is 21 weeks pregnant now. They have yet, even with the vaginal u/s, not been able to detect a heartbeat because of this. There are just too many other body systems messing with it. Since the baby is so high up and having the tilted uterus, they gave her the same options as you.
She decided to wait it out, and now at 21 weeks, the baby is moving like crazy. He waves at us and everything!

Thanks for you thoughts and insight.  Until I found this website and read similar stories, I did not even know that one's HcG should be tested (the dr. never mentioned this).  Assuming that nothing happens over the weekend, I am going to schedule a blood test.  Good luck on your blood test today.  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.  Keep me posted.  TerryJane
