No heartbeat at 6w5d. Any advice pls?

Please help,I'm worried sick! Had first scan today (vaginal) at 6w5d. Doc saw sac and pole but no heartbeat. Going for another scan next week to try detect heartbeat. She prescribed progesterone and aspirin (as I had missed miscarraige (miscarriage) 7months ago). She didn't mention the 'age' of sac and at the time I didn't think to ask.....now I'm wondering if she was just not wanting to worry me about possibility of another miscarriage. I'm devastated that this could be happening all over again..... Has anyone else out there had similar experience, ie sac and pole detected but no heartbeat???? X

i had a ultrasound done yesterday, they saw the sac and the baby which was like a grain of rice and they said i am about 6 weeks but there was no heartbeat. i go back in 2weeks to check for a heartbeat but i am so scared i dont know what to expect. this is my first pregnancy and i dont know if that is normal or not. i thought maybe its just to soon to hear or see a heartbeat but everything i read online says u see the heartbeat at 5-6 weeks. im waiting very impatiently for my next ltrasound hoping for good news but i dont know what to expect and i cant stop thinking and worrying about it.

It's a tough ride, waiting for the next scan, feels like forever! what I've read online says usually they can find heartbeat between 5-6 weeks too, but that it's not uncommon to not pick it up until  8weeks+. I guess we'll just have to wait. Maybe you ovulated later than usual and the baby is still too small?Was there a reason you went for such an early scan? I know my OB-GYN done it due to my medical history (missed miscarriage). I hav scan again tomorrow. Hope all okay with you,

how did your scan go ? i dont think there was any reason they did it early ? i just called and told them i found out from blood work i was about 4 weeks preg and they made me apt to see the nurse and the next day they had me scheduled to see the doc and he did a pelvic exam, pap, and ultrasound., i go back weds still hoping everything is fine.. but i dont really like this doc so if everything is fine i will prob be switching doctors.

I'd convinced myself I was miscarrying again so it took a while to sink in! They say the baby is a week behind my dates. Also they discovered I have a tilted uterus which makes it harder to locate the pulse too. I hope this gives you some hope for wednesday!! Get the scan out the way then decide what u wanna do re ur doc....I'm a bit disillusioned with mine after all the hassle I had on thur. Good luck for Wednesday! Keep me posted. I'm sure it will all be just fine;-)

i will def let you know. i still feel very preg. lots of nausea have only threw up once though so maybe i will get lucky and not be one of them girls who get sick alot.. but i havent had any bleeding or anything.. i do get stomach pains but i think thats just constiation.. im hoping everything is fine tho i am very excited to have a baby. alot of people say they dont even see heartbeat til like 9 weeks so im wondering if i dont see it weds and the doc thinks ill m/c then maybe i should get 2nd opinion and wait cz i have read alot of stories about people who waited and finally seen it. idk i just hope it goes well. thanks for ur support

Butterfly,  I've had two early miscarriages and 3 healthy boys.  

In your case,  it sounds like there's still real hope that this pregnancy is viable.  It's a waiting game - which is all you can do at this time,  sadly.  

I know how disappointing this is,  to get a positive pregnancy test and then in a couple weeks realize the pregnancy has failed.  

I will say this - and I mean it positively - at the end of your life,  when you look back - two very early miscarriages will fade into the fabric of your life.  As disappointing as this seems right now,  when you go on to have healthy children this will fade into the past.

SFTM, great to hear from u! I'm confidant everything will be fine at ur scan on wed....even if they don't find the pulse yet. My doc couldn't find it on the first machine either and I had to wait all day to go on the super-strength-25 horse power one;-)   (where they found the pulse eventually). The nausea is a good sign your baby is sticking in there, lol! I have a two yr old and had really bad morning sickness at the start with her. I really don't think u'll get bad news on wed, all the signs are looking good for you so far! Hang in there!xx

That is the best sound in the world. Hearing your baby's heartbeat. When I was pregnant 6 years ago, hearing the heartbeat and seeing my baby on ultrasound made me cry.

Hi Rock Rose! Hope you're well! I ended up having another miscarriage. Feeling pretty low at the moment but my two year old is keeping a smile on my face. I was wondering, if you don't mind me asking, were you're miscarriages consecutive and were they ever investigated??? Big hugs!!x

i also lost the baby. i started spotting at 9 weeks so i went n for u/s and they couldnt find the heartbeat and the baby was only measurring 7 weeks so i had to have a d&c. i want to try again but i am scared that i will have another m/c. the doc said most the time its just because something wasnt right in the first place.. i do want to try again soon and i hope this doesnt happen again. my doc said if i have another m/c then they do some blood work to see if something could be wrong. i hope not i was so excited to have this baby and it breaks my heart and knowing that it was in me for 2 weeks dead is upsetting. i didnt have a natural m/c thats why they had to do the d&c. and im very sorry for your loss, i know what you are going thru.

Hey SFTM! I'm soooooooo sorry to hear of your loss! I just can't believe that it's happened to us both.....our stories r so similar!!! I really feel for you, it's one of the hardest things I ever experienced and took a while to get thro...then happened again:-(  one thing that bugs me is when people say " better that than a baby with problems"........serIously?!?!?!? I bumped into a friend who was as far along with her pregnancy as we should be and when she told me she was preg, I burst out crying:-(

I was advised to miscarry naturally (and I wanted to) but ended up in hosp for three days then had d&c (second one this year). My GYN told me she would investigate in Jan when my hormone levels return to norm although investigation usually doesn't happen until after the THIRD miscarriage(?!?!). Anyway, we're leaving here (Middle East) and relocating to the USA soon so I was curious what the standard investigation procedure is in the US. I can't go through this again and you shouldn't have to either.

you were in the hospital 3 days after your d&c??? i had mine and went home about 2 hours later it was fast and i was put under so no pain, i think i would rather get the d&c then go thru the pain of a natural m/c i have never had one before but i heard having a natural m/c is very painful. and my doc told me about 1 out of 5 pregnancy end in a m/c but since i had one it does not put me at any higher of a risk to have another one, but idk what the norm is for test done after m/c but my doc told me if i were to have another m/c that they would do some blood work and test to see if something else might be wrong and that would only be my 2nd m/c if i were to have another one ??? i guess maybe it depends on your doc but i love my doc she is great. i had a follow up apt today for my d&c all they did was ask me some questions. she said they usually want you to wait til u have a period to get preg bt thats just be able to tell how far you are based on your period.. but its ok if u do get preg before your period and i would like to start trying right away. i hope you have better luck with your next try , and hopefully my 2nd try will work out better for me to it would be hard to loose another one.. but this time i dont want to get my hopes up until im at least 12 weeks since most m/c happen in the first 12 weeks.
