No heartbeat at 6wk ultrasound??

I am so nervous right now. I have had 3 HCG levels done since getting a BFP and they all more than doubled. Today I go in for an ultrasound at exactly 6wks and they see the gestational sac and a yolk sac but nothing else yet. I know it can be early but my doc said the yolk sac is a little bigger then he likes to see and there was also some bleeding in the uterus - although I haven't spotted or anything.  I also measured 5wks 4 days which is 3 days less then what they thought. Is that cause for consern?  A part of me doesn't even want to go back in a week for fear it will still be too early. Another part of me just wants to know already.  I am hoping to hear from some people with similiar experiences.

I went in at 5w1d and all they saw was a sac.  i was totally freaking, but then i went back two weeks later, at 7w5d, and there was the little guy, hb and all.  I wouldnt worry yet.  Maybe you od late than you think.  Give it two weeks though, thats what I would do at least.

We waited until I was 7 weeks for my ultrasound (even though I was bleeding/cramping). My doctor thought there was no point in going earlier, it would just worry me not to see a heartbeat. At 7 weeks it was so tiny, but we saw a heartbeat. I wouldn't worry yet, it is so early. I'm 20 weeks now.

i think this is the reason why most drs. won't even see you until you are 8 weeks. it is just too hard to tell so early on. i wouldn't worry, just wait a couple weeks like the others said. good luck to you!

I was over a week behind what they thought i would be from my LMP.  So when i thougt i was going for my 8 week u/s, i ended up at 6w5d.  thay brought me back 2 wks later to check developement to make sure i was develping the way i should and everything was fine.  Right down to the day!  I wouldn't worry yet...it's a good sign that your numbers look good.  Keep us updated!

For the ladies with no fetal heart beat at six weeks, do not give up just yet!! I had the same problem at six weeks, and I worried sick for ten days.  My hcg levels were steadily rising so ten days later I came back in and on ultrasound they found a baby with a heart beat!! I am 13 weeks 2 days now.  The baby still measures smaller than my LMP which would have me at about fifteen weeks on Friday.  

I have had many tell me that doctors are too quick to suggest a dnc.  My midwife told mem that if the pregancy is not going to continue, my body would figure it out on its own and we could play the wait and see game.  You owe it to yourself to wait at least a few more weeks!!

to talk me into aborting but I just think it is going to start later, right?

same thing happen to me i was 6 wks and my numbers were not doubling and had a u/s and measure 5 wk 4 day and just yolk sac and gestational sac anyway i went back a week later and they saw the baby and h/b and i am now almost 14 wks pregnant. good luck to you and keep us posted

it might be to early for a heart beat, you gota be 2months pregnant to get the heartbeat, I think its growing and your gonna be small, I think you need to sit back and relax and not worry, worrying can really hurt alot, just relax and everything from there

thank you all - I am feeling more optimistic but cautious at the same time. I am very glad we didn't tell anyone yet, esp my 5yr old DD.  I will update next week
