Not sure if it was a blood clot or miscarriage.

Not sure how to start this, but I got my period only 2 days late this month, and had very tender breasts while I was pmsing. Well, Wednesday I began to spot lightly early in the day, and by nighttime, I began to bleed a little heavier. Normally when I get my period, I don't spot at first, but I did this time. Finally all of Thursday, I had dull consistent cramps that bothered me enough to keep me from eating but I was still able to go about my day. Later that evening, I kept feeling a sharp pain on the right side of my lower stomach. As I was walking to the bathroom, I felt something drop...out of me. And it felt like it was large, so I look and it's the largest blood clot looking thing that I have ever seen. About as long as half of my hand (maybe longer) and when balled up about the size of a small kiwi. It had a jelly like consistency but still felt tough and with a lot of watery blood everywhere. I did consider the possibility of it being a miscarriage so I took a closer look and did see a tiny gray little piece of tissue, about the size of this __ About an hour later I got up again and walked to the bathroom and plop! again it goes, but this time it was a little smaller yet the same exact consistency. The 2 tissues/clots are not a bunch of tiny little pieces of tissue like my blood clots normally appear but a big piece that is all connected. I tried to remain calm but couldn't help but do a little research online and now I'm worried that I might have had a miscarriage. There is a possibility that I could have gotten pregnant this month, and I assume I would have been around 4 weeks pregnant. So I'm not sure, does it sound like a simple case of large blood clotting or a miscarriage?
