O Tests

Hi Ladise,
I have been in the archives but did not get the answer to my Question, so please do not freak out those of you monitoring to Question limit...Not meant in a bad way, OK.
I limit myself to 1 Q a week....to allow for other wemon to pist their Q too......
I am TTC and have been using O tests for the first time, I have been using them now for a few days and I have had a few N but this morning I had a P (2 Lines) yahoooo... How good are these tests on the box is stated 99.9% I have never BBT'd, so I really want to believe that this test is correct. I have used 2 different brands, 1 a clear yes the other brand not so clear, but there are 2 visibal lines.
What do you guys think?
Thanks you guys.

Hi!

Ovulation kits detect the hormone for Ovulation however it doesn't guarantee that you will Ovulate, for that you would either need to get blood tests or take your temperature and chart throughout your cycle in order to find out.

I hope this helps. However you should still bd in order to make the most of your fertile time.

Don't worry about posting your question. I personally think the people that bark about the rules are more annoying than those who post 4 threads in one day. Was the test line darker than, or as dark as the control line? Some brands recommend that you not test first thing in the morning. Answer brand says that you can. OPK's can be very helpful, and if your test line is as dark or darker than the control, then great! Remember, that these predict ovulation, so O should take place about 24 hours after the surge is detected.

Hey!  I have been feeling better and the m/c, I sure is complete.  The bleeding has stopped.  BF wants to ttc.  When you Ovulate your temp goes up?  How much?  How long is your egg good for.  Sorry for all the lose terms.  I don't know all the lingo for how I am suppose to ask.  I don't know anything about finding out when I ovulate.  I may not even ovulate tell my next af.

I haven't charted in a few years but if I do rememember yes your temp goes up, not sure how much but signifcant enough for you to notice and then it will go down that's how you know you've Ovulated.

I hope this helped...like I said it's been a long time since I've charted. I did it for almost a year and at first you're not sure of when you Ovulate but as you keep going you'll see the pattern.

Have you ever tried FertilityFriend.com?  Good website for temping and charting. I'm sure it still exists (at least i hope it does!)

I am in a very simula position as you. I had a m/c in March and we are ttc again. I used adn O for the first time this time around also, since my af was 8 days late last month. I stated to check it at the same time in the am for several days. first day it was N..then the next day I got two lines the same color. package told me you would O in 24-3 hours after the serge. so we ttc on the best days after that. Guess we won't know until I can take a test. Not feeling anything prego now.....but I guess it is kind of early? wish you good luck!

Thanks for that, but when I read some of the barking posts it puts me off posting and therefor I spend ages looking in the archives for similar Q, before I know it I have spent ages looking for something and find nothing.
Anyway, the test line was just as Dark, and I did use the morning urine, read the leaflet again and realised that they stated NOT to use morning urine so I did another test and that one gave the same reading Yahooooo. I had a m/c 6 weeks ago (The 2nd in 6 mts had to have D&C with both) and had my first AF on the 20th of this month, so I am O very early. My af's are usually between 24 and 28 days.

Interesting...I guess every OPK is different. I recently had to buy one for bloodwork. I had to do serial progesterone bloodwork basically meaning that I needed to find out when I would Ovulate and get bloodword 5dpo, 7dpo and 9dpo. Anyway this test told me only to test in the morning.

I would think that the morning urine would be much more sensitive, I guess it's a different brand. But I ended up buying a 20 pack I think (expensive) I only used 3 and now I have all these tests and I really don't want to use them.

Maybe someone wants them I can send what's left to anyone who wants the kit. I bought it about a month ago.

If you do let me know, give me your email address and we can communicate from there.

The Answer brand says you can use it in the morning. That's the kind I use, because otherwise, I'd be bringing them to work. Another brand I used once said to test between 10am-6pm. They all suggest decreasing fluids for a few hours before testing, though. My only guess on why some say to not use FMU is that maybe LH is like progesterone, therefore, the levels fluctuate throughout the day...just a guess, though.

Yep kris, you were right on that one. Men just think they know everything.

They worked for me! i did them 2 times a day for about 4 days then got a little faint line. and we got busy.  2 weeks later. my bbs were sore and i smelled the glue that hubby was using from across the house and i knew.  he says that's when he knew i was pg before i even brought it up to him to go and get an hpt.  becauase i smelled that glue.  he said he was on top of the stuff and couldn't smell.  hmmm.. crazy hormones.  before we tried the o strips we had been trying on our own for 2 years with no luck.

Oh good, I'm glad your bf is on board. They first cycle that you chart your BBT is usually just so you can get used to your temp trend. I agree that fertility friend is a great site. There's actually a temp dip on the day of ovulation and a spike the day after. It wouldn't hurt to begin charting, even if you don't O this cycle- at least you'll get in the habit of doing it. You can also buy ovulation predictor kits, which will tell you when you're about to ovulate. Once you O, the egg is only good for 24 hours, but you can BD before that, because the sperm can live about 72 hours. It's a good idea to have some soldiers up there waiting to meet and greet once the egg is released.

kamiyama- I think the only reason they say not to use FMU, is that your LH isn't at its highest level first thing in the a.m. What cycle day are you on?

As far as OPK's, I bought some off of ebay, they were the cassette kind that have the dropper and you pee into a container and drop like 5 drops in. I got 50 of them for $25 and I am now 8 wks pregnant. After about a week I realized the best time for me to test was when I got home from work at about 6pm.
