Hi all....
Finally Friday!!!!!
Kids get out of school here this coming up Tuesday but then summer school starts on 1 June. My son loves the summer school because if they don't miss a day they get $100......why didn't they do something like that when WE were in school????

Okay, here's my question.......
Talon will be a year old on the 27th and he has completely stopped eating "baby food"......he will eat the Gerber Grads fruit (less sugar than canned) but no other baby foods......
How do I make sure he is eating enough? When he was on the jar food I knew he would eat 1 1/2 to 2 jars in a sitting......now I'm just not sure if he is getting enough. "HE" says he is.....lol......
He eats maybe a 1/4 of a can of veggies and then maybe 1/2 of a jar of Gerber Grads fruit at a meal and then when I eat he is always begging at my plate so I let him eat until he says he is full or the plate is empty. He does not fuss later that he is hungry but if I feed him later he WILL eat.
Just wondering is anyone has a better method.
Thanks,
Vikki

I am training my replacement for my maternity leave and can't get online as much as I usually do (I have to set an example). So, I didn't want you guys to worry if you don't see much of me. I'll try to get on at lunchtime if she goes out for lunch. Otherwise I'll try at night, but if I don't get on much, I'll definitely let you know when the baby gets here. 17 days to go!

We haven't given her formula for about 10 days or so.  When DH gives her a bottle its breast milk. She was throwing up from the Enfamil Lipil so the pedi at the hospital changed her to Prosobee. DH would rather her not have formula at all, so I was pumping some for DH to give her. She also has thrown up from the soy but I just can't find a connection, I believe the vomiting from the soy was due to improper burping on DH's part..  I was reading on LaLeche's website about some women having an overactive letdown. The symptoms the describe seem to be what Maura experiences. I tried wht LLL suggested for that problem, and so far she hasn't thrown up. I really don't want to pump a 2week old baby full of meds. I realized if I start getting engorged is when she throws up the most, its also when she starts choking/gaging while eating. I think thats when it comes out to fast for her. So I've been pumping it when I get like that.
But she has the hiccups 3-4 times a day and 8 out of 10 times vomits with them. But no gas that I can tell of.

DH woke me up at 4:30 worried cause Maura's cord fell off.  I think he was more worried cause he couldn't find it. I told him it would be in her suit ..... LOL  When can I give her a bath ?

hey the zantac takes 3 days to fully kick in.  are they having you give it once or twice a day??  if it is only once, call your pedi and let them know that once isn't cutting it...they may tell you to give it twice a day.  the zantac isn't going to help the puking at all...i don't know what the other med is, but with ds (who puked ALL the time) he didn't stop puking until he was on primarily baby food....the more baby food and less bottle he had the less he puked.  that sphincter(sp?) muscle just needs time to get stronger.

oh and my friends dd will not take a bottle from her either...she'll take one from daddy but not mommy(why take a bottle from the milk machine...LOL)
i am lucky...if there is food coming out my kids will eat it.

i know that once the zantac kicked in for both of my kids they were like changed babies.....so happy and content(makes dealing with the puke a little easier)
good luck

hey i have a question for you.....

i read below about how you are trying to prolong a full hystorectomy???  are your doctors not even planning on trying to save your ovaries??  i'm just curious, because i know what a full hysto did to my sister... she had severe endo and they barely escaped having to reroute here intestinal tract, (yah the endo had tied her ovaries and uterus to her rectum)
they were really trying to save her ovaries but they were just too intangled.  if they take your ovaries you will go into full menopause.
anyway just curious.

We have discussed many different options and alot will depend on what he finds when he does the tubal and lap. I know after Ash was born I was pain free for 2 years so I am hoping that it will be the same this time around.

I would prefer to save the overies but they are what makes the hormones that make the lining shed so if they left them it may not take care of the problem.

The Zantac is 1ml 3X a day. She spits most of it out even when I give it to her in small amounts.  The reglan is 1/2ml 4X a day.

Reglan increases the contractions of the stomach and small intestine, helping the passage of food. It is given to treat the symptoms of diabetic gastroparesis, a condition in which the stomach does not contract. These symptoms include vomiting, nausea, heartburn, feeling of indigestion, persistent fullness after meals, and appetite loss. Reglan is also used, for short periods, to treat heartburn in people with gastroesophageal reflux disorder (backflow of stomach contents into the esophagus).

I haven't given her any meds since 8PM last night and so far all we had was a little spit up.

I would think what your son is eating is just fine.  If he were hungry he would eat trust me.  Just let him eat as much as he wants and try not to worry.  I can't believe he is almost a yr old already.  It goes so fast doesn't it????  Well you take care.  Bye

I have been "crampy" since last Saturday, CD 14.  I started doing the ovulation tests that day even though I don't ovulate until after CD 19 or so usually.  (My cycles are about 30-32 days apart and I ovulate late.)  Anyway, my lines on my ovulation tests were dark last Saturday - Monday but not so dark Tuesday - Thursday.  Plus, I am still crampy.  Any ideas?

Wisegirl--Just wondering if formula(maybe a little heavier than breast milk) Would stay down better. But by the sounds of it not.
Wow  Im with you one the meds for such a small babe ,but sometimes you got to rule the good and the bad.
Maybe she just needs time to mature  Hang in there!! She is obviously getting enough if she is gaining so that is relief.

Angel--Yes kids will eat when there hungry, Give him what you think and if he eats it all you can always offer more.

Out of school!!! How does that work out of school then summer school????never heard of it before....Hey 100 bucks thats cool!

Do your kids go to school all year around?????  My DD's last day is June 9 and then she is off until the end of August.  Summer school is just that - After the regular school year lets out then some kids take summer classes.  I would have taken them also for $100.00 LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I hated school if I got paid a little I would have probably gone more.  I believe that is what Angel meant.  If not I feel stupid and I will let her explain LOL!!!!!!!!!!  Take Care girly.

Blondie is right......school is from the end of Aug until the end of May or first part of June...we had no snow days here so they get out May 17th, I think it is the federal government that regulates HOW MANY days they have to go per year. Anyway, after they get out then they have the option to go back for 'summer school' it is only 4 weeks (June 1st-June 28) and they get paid $100. It used to be that summer school was only for the kids that did bad in school and that was a way to make up their grades to keep from failing or staying in the same grade another year. But within the past few years it has become from everyone (think it is part of the 'No Child Left Behind' thing and they get paid if they don't miss any of the days. Heck, here the bus still runs and the kids get free breakfast and free lunch everyday!!!!
Hope that explained it!!!! :)
Yeah, same as Blondie asked....... DO your kids go to school all year round???????

To: Oh well
She threw up again.  So I started giving her the Reglan.  I will give the meds a few days to work, if she still vomits I will call a Gastro on Tues.

wisegirl-
holycow that is a lot of medication!  both of my munchkins were just on 2x a day and they encouraged me to start feeding them cereal as soon as they turn 4 months.
well i hope your little one is better soon

tres-
that is kind of the point of a partial hysto.....if there is no uterus to house the lining then no lining can build up.

my oldest sister was telling me(she's a nurse) that when you give birth the baby will take most if not all of the existing endo with them when they leave.  that might explain your pain releif after your last child.
well good luck to you

UP here school is from Sept 8-June 29   depending on weather how many snow days they get(kids cant wait for a storm)  They have 2 weeks holidays at christmas time and  1 week for March break.

Summer school was yes basically for kids that failed, or needed catching up  but the school system here now does not fail  you
(which to me is stupid) why push them on to something harder when they cant get it in the first place

Free breakfast and lunches????   Im in the wrong place!!
school buses run here to,

I was thinking about Maura last night and I thought about something I had come across while reading on why infants vomit. It is called pyloric stenosis. Something about narrowing of the stomach and they vomit their food up everytime they eat. They say it usually presents at 3 to 6 weeks. Even though she does not have the symptoms of losing weight and dehydration you may want to ask about it. Look it up on internet..lots of info. Danielle

My friend mentioned that last night.  God I hope not !! I hope its nothing that serious.  I'm just going to wait and see.

I hope not too! And it probably isn't seeing that she is gaining weight and all. I did not want to worry you, just let ya know! Danielle

unfortunately the endo spreads outside the uterues also it can attach itself anywhere inthe body. Basically it is internal bleeding that causes the pain. That is why they usually take the overies also because other wise the hormones cause the endo in other places to bleed and cause the same pain.

where is "here" that sounds like a terrific system?

by mgi, May 14, 2005 12:00AM
wow that is awesome.
I am at  a public school in Ohio.  We jave nothing like any of those programs.  (years ago we had free lunch at a couple schools in summer but it was not tied to summer school)   we don;t get paid extra for military families  (my ds's school would be in heaven if that were the case)  and our kids certainly don't get reimbursed for summer school
Plus if we don't use our snow days too bad!   (however if we use too many we have to make them up)  So we are out June 3rd!  Then we go back aug 23rd.

I'm in Missouri.....I would assume that all the schools in the states have the same program but then again I have been known to 'assume' wrong.......lol
My favorite saying to my son......'well, you thought wrong' or 'well, you assumed wrong'.....LOL

The free breakfasts and lunches are ONLY during the summer school.....I have to pay the rest of the year.....
But I guess they think that if we (the parents) have to pay for the meals we will be less apt to send out kids to summer school. I'm sure the school gets $ for every kid that goes.
I do know that my ds school gets state funding (or federal) whatever public schools get and they they also get extra for each 'military kid' that goes. So if the kid is from an active duty family then the school gets paid twice.
