*********OPEN FORUM SATURDAY***********

Good Morning and Weekend everyone. I haven't been on much lately, have been busy w/ school, work and Chaise. I went to the doc. the other day (as I posted in an open forum a couple of days ago) and my gyn. is concerned that I may have a cyst on my left ovary. About a month ago I posted a question because I was having a pain on my left side. If it is a cyst, it has been affecting my cycles as well. They've been @ 48 days from 1st day to 1st day. I got my blood drawn Wed. and I have an appt. for an ultrasound this Wednesday and will find out what's going on w/ me Tuesday Sept. 29. Since we are ttc, I hope this will not effect it. Anyone ever had a problem w/ cysts?

How is everyone else feeling?? I know there's a couple getting ready to have babies....

Can't tell you alot about cysts and ttc.  I did have one back years ago when I was on Tamoxifen, but it just spontaneously went away in a month.  Mosts cysts do just go away on their own.
---------------------------------------------------------

Still very worried about our house.  Heard from hubby--took him hours to get to where he could pick up the truck (which, by the way, was SUPPOSED to have been repaired perfectly.  He says it is immediately obvious that the frame IS BENT, and pulls severely to the side.  Now he is stuck with trying to drive it back to MI to be turned in AGAIN to be examined by the insurance adjustors.  WHY THE HELL DIDN'T THEY JUST TOTAL THE D@MN THING IN THE FIRST PLACE?)
The insurance guys down there have so much to do with the flood damage that they are clearly not interested.  They said just leave it and fly back home and rent another car.  LIKE WE HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY!  Even though we'll be reimbursed, we still have to pay first.

Anyway, he stayed in a motel last night as he didn't know what kind of shape the road to the house was in.  He isn't there yet, as he can't find a road so far that isn't closed.  He said the destruction to our little mountain town is a testimony to the power of nature.  Rock and mudslides everywhere.  Hundreds and hundreds of trees down.  I am just shaking--sure that our house can't have been spared.  It is surrounded by 100 ft poplars, some of which have been there 50+ years.  There is no power anywhere there, and they don't expect it for 72 hours or so.  Our road washes out any time we get a hard rain, and I just can't imagine it will be passable even by truck now.  We're at the top of a small mountain.

So many near Asheville have been devastated by this storm.  A 90 year old woman who lives partway up a mountain awoke in the middle of the night to find WATER swirling around in her bedroom, somewhat startling since she lives so high up the mountain.  She sat up, disoriented and not sure what to do, when the entire side of the mountain slammed into her home, destroying it and sending her and tons of trees, rocks, mud and her house cascading down.  She was miraculously found alive in the morning.
There is story after story like this.  You expect such devastation if you choose to live on the coastline, but you believe you are safe if you choose to live elsewhere.  7 people in our area have been killed by the storm.

My heart goes out to all who have suffered, here and elsewhere.

House is OK!!!!  There are lots of trees down, and the road is pretty bad, no power or water, but thank you GOD--the house is untouched.  I can't believe it.  Not even so much as a loose shingle.

Whew.  What a load off my mind.  Thank you all who have listened to my obsessive ramblings.  I'll try to stop.

Anyone have toddlers that are into "The Wiggles".We just spent
$110 on tickets to their show & had to get up extra early and wait online to buy them. ( what we won't do for our kids)

i definately agree with the outlets and cupboards (especially those with cleaning supplies and heavy objects)
i would also recomend if you have doorways with useless doors on them (you know the door is open 24/7) to get those foam protecters....they attach to the edge of the door and stop it from completely closing or opening. (that one saved a lot of hurt fingures in our house)
the other thing is that with crawling comes pulling themselves up and walking around furniture....some people put guards on the sharp edges of furniture. (please keep in mind that if they fall this will not prevent all injury....for some reason children have the uncanny ability to hit the sweet part of the eye and split it open everytime.)

good luck crawling is just the begginning and they never slow down from here. :)

Just catching up on everyone.  I am doing well. We have been so busy at work and am so tired when I get home I have had no time to get on.  Well, I am at 35 weeks so only 5 weeks to go.  Just feeling tired and am with the rest of you preggers, my boobs are huge.  Hanging in there and patiently waiting.

Shari you are right there with me I know your moving but update us as you can.

Christie,  Thank goodness your house is o.k.  Glad to hear everything worked out.  The hurricanes this year have been tremendous freaks of nature especially because there has been so many devestating hurricanes to reach landfall.  It is amazing.  Anyway glad everything is o.k.  Now just the truck to deal with!

I will try to check back more often.

we took our son to see the wiggles about a year and a half ago...it's a pretty neat show you'll like it!

christie-
glad to hear hubby is ok and the house......there's a reason those trees have stood there for 50 years :)
what always amazed me more is that trees can root them selves so well in rock!
as long as nobody decides to come along and start carving on your little mountain the trees are actually what keep everything safe.

on a lighter note...as for the 90 yo woman...wow what a ride,
i think i'd be going to be touched by her...she obviously was spared for a higher purpose.

Dana- definitely outlets and cabinets. Also, invest in baby gates for any area you don't want baby in (we keep our bathroom and kitchen off limits, saves tons of time with baby-proofing) We do still have locks on cleaning cupboards just in case security is breeched, lol.

Cords were a huge issue with Jonathan, so hide as many as you can behind furniture. Tape them down if you can't hide them and if you haven't designated no-no's yet, make that your first one. Jonathan was relentless in his search for cords!!

I would also get in the habit of using plastic cups or making sure after you drink out of cans, bottles or glasses to put them up. Seems silly, but John wouldn't listen to my request and one day while going to the bathroom, I heard a glass break (I didn't know it was there) and I opened the door just in time to catch Jonathan putting his hand into the broken glass. Had I been in another room of the house, he would have had time to cut himself. I made it clear then that only plastic cups were to be used.

Just a little advice, hope it helps!

Hi! I haven't been on in a long time! How is everyone? I went back to work last week, and it has been difficult for me. DS didn't seem to notice that I've been gone all day. I take that as a good sign that he feels safe and cared for when I'm not there.

I have a childproofing question. DS is almost 8 months and is getting ready to crawl. What is the most critical childproofing I need to do first? I think it would be outlets and cabinets. Any thoughts?

You may also want to get a lid lock for your toilets.  I saw them at Babies R Us and thought to myself that I would definetly have to come back and get it.  My friend has a 10 month old and she had just walked in on him at the perfect time--he was in the bathroom trying to stand up against the toilet.

I am very glad your home is okay.  I am an insurance agent and I know the extent of damage.  As an agent I am a little concerned that your husband took the truck when thier was damage done to it.  I am not in the claims department of the insurance bussiness, but I have run into this problem with other customers who took thier vehicle from the shop that was fixing it a realized it was still messed up and the claims adjustor in every case told them that once they sign for the car and take it off the lot they are saying the car is satisfactory and the ins. company will not fix anything else you notice was not fixed or is acting up.  So if someone from the insurance company told you it was okay to pick it up please make sure you made a note of that persons name and extension if you got it.  Also in regards to the debrie that might be in your yard if you have alot and it looks like it cannot be done by your dh alone and might be expensive check with your homeowner insurance because some companies will pay a certain amount for debrie removal.
