Hi all, I figured since there was an open forum that I'd better open it for tomorrow just in case we don't get anymore later........
I also have a question......
My son is 5 weeks 3 days old (Sunday) and he has had thrush for over 3 weeks now......
The ped gave us a prescription and we used it all and then called him telling him that the thrush was still there.....he called in another prescription and after using that one the thrush is still there.......
Is there anything I can do other than going back to the doctor??????
I mean I have no problem making him an appointment to be seen again but I was just wondering if there is some other cure out there since the prescription didn't work....
Okay, let me be a pain in the butt....lol
I've been MIA for awhile so I'm going to make up for it now.
Question....
If I don't get my AF since I'm breastfeedingBreast-feeding tips Breastfeeding Breastfeeding - resources, how will I know if I get pregnant again??
NO, I'm not trying and yes we are using protection but 'WHAT IF'...
Also, I had a rubellaMmr - vaccine Rubella Rubella on an infant's back Rubella syndrome Rubella virus vaccine shot when my son was 2 weeks old and the nurse told me to make sure I didn't get pregnant for at least 3 months........again, NO I'm not trying to get pregnant again, baby is only 5 weeks old but.......I guess I'm just worrying since AF may not show up because of the nursing, that was always the tell-tale sign that I wasn't prego in the past.
Okay, just tell me to shut up..........LOL

Just wanted to let everyone know my suspicions were right about the faints not getting darker. I had severe cramping last night and low and behold, bleeding heavily today. I'm emotionally okay with it as timing could have been better...who knows...maybe it'll get better fast! LOL! Lots of luck to all you pregos and those TTC!
Use condomsCondoms Female condoms and foam (don't use either one alone!) or some other very effective method of BC during this important time.
You can always take an HPT--but if you get pregnant during this waiting period, it won't do any good to find out early. What's done would be done.
Better to be vigilant and prevent the pregnancy til you get the go-ahead.
Thanks for your imput Christie, it actually wasn't the doctor that told me to wait 3 months it was one of the OB nurses (same difference to me, most of the time the nurses know just as much and have more time to talk with you)
What is the foam you are talking about? Spermicide I assume but where can I find it? I tried to find something with spermicide at Wal-Mart when I bought condoms but couldn't find anything. I thought they made K-Y with a spermicide but if they do this Wal-Mart didn't have it........
I bought the condoms that have a spermicide lubricant on or in them but that probably isn't sufficent.
We would just abstain for a while longer but something tells us that we will be doing alot of that soon enough if DH has to deploy again. Could be gone a year or more. I'm just glad he was here for most of the pregnancy, the delivery and the early months of Talons life. Could have been worse I guess.
But hey, we don't know yet and maybe he won't have to go at all. A girl can hope can't she......lol.
Anyway, please let me know what foam you are talking about and where I might be able to find it.
Hugs,
Vikki
I dont have any cure for thrush but just wanted to comment that if you are breastfeeding you also need a prescription for you. I think you apply it directly to the affected areas of the breast but it could be taken orally.
The doctor told me to just use the same prescription that he gave for my son and that I was to put it on my nipples after each feeding. And then for him it was to be put on the inside of his cheeks, on his gums and on his tongue.
I'm not sure why it didn't get rid of it.....I'm pretty sure I did exactally what the doc told me to do. Except I used q-tips on his mouth instead of a washcloth (too hard to get my fingers in his mouth without gagging him....he still gagged and ended up throwing up with the q-tips)
I'm so sorry to hear that news. I know exactly how you feel. In the 1 year that we were ttc, I m/c 3 times and had several instances where I would get a couple of faint positives, get all excited, and then a BFN, followed by AF. It's such an emotional roller coaster. I finally conceived in January and I'm now 27 weeks pregnant, so hang in there. It'll happen when you least expect it.
How long have you been ttc? Do you have children? I'm sorry for not remembering your situation; I can't keep up with everyone. Good luck and I'll keep you in my prayers.
Have you thought of any other forms of birth control? I do not trust condoms at all, I have been pg twice while using condoms! Both of my sons were planned, but my first 2 m/c were condom babies! I go in on July 22nd for my IUD placement, I am going to try Mirena. I tried to get back on depo after having Jonathan, but it didn't mesh well with my hormones while breastfeeding so I wasn't even going to try it this time around!
Our options are very limited being breastfeeding moms, we can't use anything with estrogen in it as the odds are it will dry our milk supply up. Anyway, talk to your OB and get some other options to pair with condoms. Good luck!
As far as the thrush, I don't know what to tell you : ( I myself have already dealt with mastitis this time around, but never have had to battle with thrush with Tristan or Jonathan. Hopefully they will be able to get that cleared up soon!
You can buy foam at any drug store really - but just an FYI, my husband and I used it a few times, and excuse the graphic nature of what I'm about to say, but we found that the times we put the foam in and then waited 10 minutes or so were ok, but one time I put it in and then we got started, and HE WAS ON FIRE FOR HOURS!! lol It's funny now, but at the time I thought he was going to die - he went and had a shower and everything, but it still hurt the next day. Needless to say, he was unwilling to use it again and threw it out. There are also films though, rather than foam - never tried those, but I bet they are better. Good luck and congratulations on your little one.
Thanks for the info on the questions I've asked.
I go to the docotor on Monday for my 6 week check-up (I know, a few days late) so I will discuss birth control then.
As for the thrush, it looks much better and I will just take him by the pedi on Monday when I go into the doctor and see what he says (it's just downstairs from my doc).
Hugs,
Vikki

Chloe...I MISS YOU!
I'm so sorry-I know you are disappointed. I hope you get there soon!

Angel-Of course I have to tell you to go by what your doctor said, but actually the revised standards for avoiding pregnancy after rubella immunization was shortened to 28 days.
Perhaps your doctor was being super cautious.
