Occasional spotting during pregnancy--Worried

by Gemmonk, Jan 11, 2007 12:00AM
Hello everyone. I had posted a few months ago as I had two early miscarriages in August and October.  I finally have made it to 8 weeks, but I have spotted 1x a week for 3 weeks.

When I was 6 weeks pregnant, I spotted bright red blood for one wipe, but it never came back. They saw a heartbeat (first time I have ever carried a baby long enough to have a heartbeat!) at 6 weeks 2 days.

I spotted brownish over the weekend for an hour. Yesterday, I spotted for a couple "wipes".  This morning, i had my 8 week check-up and they said it looks normal, and I had a pap smear.  Now I am spotting more, but I think it might be from the Pap smear.

I am so worried about EVERYTHING right now... any advice on occasional spotting that turns out okay... I am so used to it turning out terribly...

the spotting could be from the pap or it is just spotting that happens.  I bleed the first 12 weeks, I am now 23 weeks.  It is hard to see that because it is a bad sign as well but just know it is also something that "just happens" to some women as the doctor says.  You should always call them when it happens but know that it can be normal.

Thanks, that's a little more reassuring. Did you bleed bright red or just brownish spotting now and then? I am so panicked to pee sometimes...

Gemmonk,  I just wanted to say that I totally know what you mean by being panicked to pee.  It's terrible, isn't it?!

I am almost 23 weeks and I still look every time I pee.  I think when you have a previous miscarriage you are always scared- I know I am.  Good luck to you and I hope you have a healthy pregnancy! :)

At first it was brown like I was getting my AF, then it got brighter.  Then it would be pink spots just when I would wipe.

A couple times I had enough to wear I would put on a pad and cry the entire ride to the doctor's office (he always told me to come in) Once I had clots, that time I was in a panic they think that one was another cyst breaking up but they are not sure.

So I have had all the shades of scary blood.  I would spot at least 2-3 times a week for the first 12 weeks and just like gnicole I still look everytime I go to the bathroom Sometimes I even stand up and peek while I am at my desk in work. Everyone, BF, Parents, Friends all think I am nuts.  Everyone except the girls on here because they/you all know what it is like to be scared to death.

So as scary as the blood it - it could be normal just always call your doctor.

Thinking positive thoughts for you.  Many, many women spot and have healthy pregnancies.
