How is everyone? Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I once again couldn't find my darn password, but I need some advice, which isn't very often..... so I worked really hard to find it!
Ok, as you all know, DH came in from deployment for a week for the fourth. I know I wasn't ovulating because I ovulated the week before he came in. He came in night of July 1st, we bd the whole week (lots of course :o) ) and AF arrived July 8th.. the day that he left. My question is, I was planning on starting AdipexAdipex-p on Monday because I'd really love to lose about 20 pounds and fit in a size 5 again (lol) BUT if there is even the slightest chance that I am pregnant, I'm going to wait until after my next AF. I figured maybe someone here could help me. I know that ovulation is key time for conceiving, but a few people have told me that you (womenWomen's way in general) are still pretty fertile the week before AF. Is there any truth to this?? Just curious!!
This is probably obvious advise but, I think it would be best to skip the diet pills and follow a healthy diet and exercise program if you are considering a pregnancy in the near future. You will want to keep your nutritional stores up and take a prenatal vitamin too. I know this is easier said than done, good luck, and take things one day at a time. Try not to think of it in such big steps, maybe start with a goal of 5 lbs, then when you reach that goal, try to lose another 5. Remember it's not the number on you jeans tag that matters, it how you look and feel.
I don't think you are pregnant right now, but it is possible to ovulate as early as CD9, or start having fertile cervical mucus this early. Are doing BBT charting? While DH is gone, it is a good time for you to keep really good track of your cycles so when he is back you will know the best time to BD. Have you read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility?"
DH will be gone until January of 2006. He has been deployed to Iraq. That was our "one last shot", although I wasn't ovulating. I saw a dietician, who prescribed the pills and set out my diet plan for me, but I was just curious on if it were at all possible that I were pregnant from that week of BDing before AF came. I asked my dietician and she said she really couldn't answer it, but she was one of the many people that told me you are still fertile the week before AF.
I've read many times that you ovulate 14 days before you get your AF, and that this does not vary much. What does vary is the time from the start of AF until you ovulate. So to determine when you last ovulated, count back 14 days from the start of your last AF. Did you BD during that time? It's possible to be pregnant and still have AF show up, but more likely that you are not pregnant, the only way to know is to wait and take a test.
I'm kind of suprised a dietician recommended a weight loss pill. My best friend is a dietician also. I'll ask her what she thinks or knows about Adipex, I know nothing about it.
Sorry to hear your DH will be gone so long. Will he ever get to come home and visit you? That is such a long deployment. Is he active duty? What branch of service? If you did get pregnant, he wouldn't even be here for the babies birth! I hope you have lots of family and friends to help get you through this long separation. Take care!
Hey.. thanks for the info! I'm just going to wait to start taking it to be on the "safe side". I know that the only time we BD was the 7 days before AF because he wasn't home other than those days so I had already ovulated, but just to be safe, I'm going to wait. You know, there's always those what-ifs and if there is a "what-if" I don't want to harm anything. More than likely not, BUT just in case, the diet pills can wait a month. I'm not THAT anxious to lose the weight.
The lady I saw is actually a nurse practitioner. But when I contacted my insurance company (Tri-Care) for a list of covered dieticians, they referred me to her. It's a small family owned practice and her dad (the owner) retired and she took over. Adipex is really popular in this area, but I had her give me a smaller dosage (15mg instead of 37.5) I'm not wanting a pill to lose the weight for me, just a little boost. But she did give me a nice diet plan and along with the exercise, i'm confident I'll reach my goal. (hoping) :o)
yeah, it is a VERY LONG TIME for hubby to be gone, but I'm doing my best to be strong for myself and our son. I do have a lot of family and friends here, well actually pretty much all of our family, so it's not as bad as some military wives have it. I just really pity those who are alone in another state with strange surroundings and no family. I talked to him tonight and he said it's looking like he will get a 2 week leave around this time next year, which will be his 6 month mark in Iraq. They are still training in Fort Hood Texas right now. Thanks for your help, especially at this time of the night. I really appreciate it!!
Actually, as long as you think you will be about a year out from actively TTCing again, I think trying to lose weight before then is a great idea. Just be sure to give yourself a time goal or weight goal, not necassarily a size goal.
And in consultation with your nurse pratitioner that presribed the weight loss aid, you should ask what YOUR personal ideal healthy weight would be for conception. You don't want to lose a TON of weight only to pack it back on during pregnancy and have to rely on diet aids to get you back down after baby comes, especially if you want to breastfeed. However, you do want to get to a healthy weight that won't put you or baby at risk while you are pregnant.
I am not sure of ALL the risks of being overweight and pregnant, but I know that a big one is high blood pressure which can lead to pre-eclampsia. This is a condtion you do NOT want to have.
Just remember to toss the pills once you KNOW you will be TTCing again within 3 to 6 months. And also remember, lose it because YOU want to and to be healthy.
Im telling ya, those 2 weeks is when you will get PG! It happens to most of us LOL. They sit overseas and they build up some ACTIVE swimmers!!! Myself and quite a few other people I know are all sitting here pregnant with R&R babies. Good luck hun, hang in there!
I have to agree with PregnantAgain.....
I got pregnant with DS right after DH got back from a year in Afghanistan.
I know it seems like he will be gone forever but hang in there.
I believe there are several military wives here on the board and even those that aren't are here for you.
Hugs,
Vikki
