Once you've seen a heartbeat, isn't that good?

Once you've seen a heartbeat, isn't that good?

I should be 8 weeks 3 days now.  We saw a heartbeat of 168 last Monday.....  I'm still so scared something will happen.  I've had no spotting or anything.....some cramps every once and awhile.....but nothing too bad.  I"m just scared.  Once you see the strong heartbeat, aren't the chances good?

Read Laura99's response to lfb's post.  I would find that helpful.

Good heart rate! Worry is natural and I don't think any of us will stop worrying until we're holding the baby in our arms. Then we start a whole new set of worries! Seeing the hb is definitely a positive step forward.

It's so hard!  Just take it one day at a time.  I am sure everything is going to work out for you.  Don't be scared to call your doctor/midwife.  I drove mine crazy the first month. That's okay though.  They were very understanding after my MC.  Good luck!!!!

You chances of a m/c are way down since you have heard the heartbeat.  I saw my little baby's heartbeat at 6w2d and had to wait till 12w to hear it.  So I know how hard it is not to worry.  Us women who have had many m/c always are scared.  I'm 20w and still scared.  Try to relax, easy to say right.  I think you will be fine.

Thanks, April.
Allie, uust in case you can't be bother to look for the post: I found this very reassuring: "If the scan picks up a heartbeat and the baby appears to be the right size according to your dates, this can be very reassuring. Research has shown that if you see a heartbeat at 6 weeks of pregnancy, the chances of the pregnancy continuing are 78%. A heartbeat at 8 weeks increases the chance of a continuing pregnancy to 98% and at 10 weeks to 99.4%. So things could still go wrong, but as long as there is a heartbeat, the risk of miscarriage decreases as the weeks go by". Of course there will always be a chance of something being wrong but it is less if you have seen the hb already. Good luck!
