Only 13oz. !!!

Only 13oz. !!!

Yesterday my daughter only ate 13oz. the whole day!! And she barley eats more than that on any other given day!!! I am getting so frustrated. She is four months.. I give her a 4oz. bottle every three to four hours and Im lucky if she eats 3 oz. at a feeding.. she usually eats two. And when Im feeding her she struggles to get out of my arms and pushes the bottle out of her mouth.. or she gets distracted by something else. Any advice? Please.

dont force her to eat, believe me when she is hungry she WILL eat. it could be a growth spurt, or maybe cutting teeth. my girly will eat like a cow, but since she is cutting her teeth she wont eat as much. just let her eat when she wants and you should be fine. if it gets a little to much for you and you think she is sick or something call her ped. dr. good luck

Does she have any problems with spitting up or crying after she eats. I'm just wondering since you said she squirms and tried to get away I'm wondering if she has reflux and her tummy is hurting or her throat burning. Just a suggestion as both of my kiddos had reflux.  Maybe check with your doctor about it and just let him/her know what is going on so they can help.

It could be the nipple flow.  My son couldn't make it through a bottle when the nipple flow became too slow.  Once we switched to the next level, he killed the bottle within minutes.  Also, when he was teething he was eating less because it bothered him to suck.  For teething I use the Hyland's tablets and I swear by them.  He's cutting 4 top teeth now and he barely wants to finish a bottle.

I have had similar experiences with my 7.5 month old. She will still only drink about 3-4 4 oz bottles a day, but she also still has my breast milk and about 4 0z of baby food a day. She is petite and does not eat a whole lot, but she eats less when she is teething. I agree with the others about that. She is pushing thru her other top tooth, so she is irritable, clingy, and has even less of an appetite. Go with it. She will eat when she is hungry.

Mami--I have a friend who uses tablets for teething, perhaps they are what you mentioned. What are they and where in the store do you find them?? Are they numbing? I would like to find something better for my dd, instead of pumping her full of tylenol all day and night...thnx

They are called Hylands Tablets or you can get Humphrey's tablets.  They are the same thing.  They are small dissolvable tablets that you put under the baby's tongue.  It relaxes them and are all natural.  I'm not sure if they numb them but they do work.  You can find them at any cvs or duane reade or pharmacy.  They are in the baby aisle.  I use them and they seem to work, although there are nights where I combine both the tablets and the Tylenol.  Right now my son has 4 top teeth coming in all at once.  He's not satisfied by the tablets alone.

Thanks! I will definately look for them. By numbing, I meant the gums, numbing the gums, not the baby, lol! I have been using tylenol, but she is very irritable, so I think I should find something else to help. Oragel is not very effective, for very long anyway. She is so sore, she has been waking up in the night miserable. Her teeth seem to come in two's, because her bottom to came within days of each other. Her big top one is out, but the other one has yet to show, so she is quite cranky. Thanks so much!

I knew what you meant...lol.  I know how you feel, Jayden is not a happy camper.  I can see why though, having 4 top ones coming in all at once must be awful.  It's weird because he's fine during the day but once night time hits all hell breaks loose.
