At least when I had the ultrasound while pregnant with my DD the tech was fun and explained everything on the screen and I felt like she really tried and made the ultrasound so enjoyable. This time it was so cold and very business like.
My doctor doesn't have the machine in her office so all patients are sent to the hospital or some off site facility owned by the hospital so it probably wouldn't make a difference if I complain but I am still definately going to make my doctor aware of the awful
First I would like to send a great big hug to CMN, congratulations girl!!!! Don't worry about symptoms yet, they will come before you know it. Nobody feels pregnant right away, give it a few weeks to build up those hormones and then you'll have lots of time to feel like ****!!! Best of luck!
Missy, sorry the tech was such a dreeb. Don't you hate when people in those types of jobs act like meat heads. Just no personality. I would have kept questioning her to find out what you were seeing. You deserve to know! Anyway, just be happy everything is good and you know as far as knowing what you are having, I wouldn't dare want to know. I think it's the biggest surprise you could ever ask for.
Well, nothing new with me today. Still tired, not sick much at all the last few days. Yuppeee! Just sticking close to home today cleaning and stuff. Yup, same thing I do every day. Well, have a good one everyone!!
I'm sorry to hear that your U/S wasn't what you wanted it to be, We have to go to a hospital here in Canada too to get U/S done. Are you going to be able to have another one to find out the sex at all? I hate going to see Dr just cause they seem so impersonal, on of my good friends said the same thing happened to her. The U/S tech yelled at her for being 5 min late for her appointment, the only reason why she was late was because we were having a snow storm that day.
Capermom- Thank you so much for all the kind words and help you have given me, I can't wait to go to the Dr on thursday to get my blood drawn. I've only taken the HPT so far and the positive side was so dark, All DH said when he seen the test was wow who's the daddy? I started laughing from that one, i told him by telling him i had a surprise and to close his eyes. I put the stick in his hands and he goes what does 2 lines mean, i said positive then he's like ewww you peed on this thing and washed his hands. How are you doing today?
Congratulation CMN! Thats great news! You didnt even have to wait very long! Try to take it easy and let DH do ALL the work. Kick your feet up and relax!
Missy, I had the same problem. I could barely see the screen, and the tech didnt say much. DH was saying "ooh, thats this, thats that..." and she said "no, its not, I will explain everything at the end." I was frustrated with that, but dh wasnt phased at all. She did explain stuff, but she was very carefull about things. We told her we didnt want to know the sex or have pix that would give it away either. She said that she only takes pictures to make sure everything is OK and that the sex is not a focal point for her. Well, the pix we got back were not clear for us, but we scanned them into the computer, and blacked out the area just in case the "pro's" could see something we dont. Anyway, back to the tech, she was very distant with us (nice, but distant). DH said it was becuase they cant get too personal or make us believe that all is OK when it may not be. So they are supposed to stay generic and let the doc do the talkiing. I hope it helps you see that side of it. I know youre pissed off, I was too. But just seeing the pix now and finally feeling the movements, makes me forget the BS we have to put up with.
Capermom, glad to hear you are finally getting past that sickness stage. Now you start enjoying food more! LOL!!!
I had my appt this week, doc said I am on the right track, gained 8 pounds since the begining and I am 20 weeks. He said only 1 per month and I will stay on track. woo hoo! I thought if I ever saw these maternity days come my way, I would be as big as a house!
I am sorry you had a bad experience with the tech. I have been very fortunate will all my ultrasound techs. The ones with the fertility doctor are all done by the doctor and he always explains what we see, what we don't see and he answers all of our questions. The one with my regular ob was great too. Even when she had to tell us that our daughter was gone, she was there holding my hand and crying with us. I am glad that the baby is okay, and that is the number one thing. Believe me if the pumpkin wants to let you know ahead of time what he/she is then they will let you know. I hope that they start teaching a class on bedside manners. I know that they have to remain a little generic, but we are the customers and it is a customer based business. Best of luck with the remainder of the pregnancy.

Well after thinking about it all weekend and looking on line at paying for another ultrasound myself, $189.00 here for a 3D, I decided to wait and talk to my doctor. I have finally calmed down some and am not so upset just left with more of a feeling of disappointment. I did talk to one of my girlfriends who works at a local hospital in the radiology department she is going to talk to one of the techs to see if they will do a regular ultrasound for me.
Thanks everyone for your kind words to help make me feel better.
Shari it seems like our pregnancies are going along the same route. I just couldn't believe you had the same experience. How funny is that?
