Hows Everyone??
Im tired.. its 10am and ive been up pretty much all morning since 2am.. Ashton is finally asleep in his swing.. so I think im gonna go curl up on the couch.. its a rainy day today.. so im gonna just lay around all day today.. Take care everyone and hope to hear from you soon!!
Hi Chloe! That sounds like a wonderful day. I'm exhausted myself, but unlike you I slept until 12noon today. I just can't seem to get enough rest lately. I hope my energy level picks up soon. Tomorrow I'm 13 weeks!
Hey everyone, sounds like everyone is having a lazy day. Me too. I can't seem to get motivated at all. I did go to Church and went to visit my MIL so I guess I did something. I'm just starting on the laundry now, yupppeee. Never ends. I have piles of baby stuff to wash and fold. My cousin keeps giving me lots of cool stuff so I'm really thankful. I have more blankets and sheets then I know what to do with. Saved me a pile of money.
I'm wondering what I should do about baby bottles. I plan on nursing but would love to have a bottle to substitute once in while so DH and the boys can feed the baby too. I think it would be good for them to be able to do this too. I'm not interested in pumping though at all. I did give my second son formula every once in awhile when I was nursing him but I don't remember when I started it.
I don't know what else I should have upon bringing the baby home. I have diapers, car seat, powder and washing supplies, a bunting bag. No outfit to take baby home in though because I don't know the sex of the baby yet. Anyone have any ideas? I have my bag packed for the hostpital for myself but nothing for the baby yet. Any good advice on what I should bring?
I packed a warm blanket....... some of those mittens for the babies to wear (because mine scratched their faces)..........their baby book (if you want the nurses to put their feet print in it for you)......... warm clothes (the hospital only put them in a long sleeve shirt & my room was cold)............ I also took a journal I had started when I got pregnant to write down the experience (I still keep the journal to write down milestones or funny stories)........ maybe bibs or burp cloths
As for the bottles, I have a pack of 3 bottles in 4 oz size myself for IF I want/need to supplement. If you only intend to do it occasionally, then I wouldn't get more than that. If there comes a time you HAVE to switch to bottles, then you can buy more then. But for myself, I just don't want them in the house to tempt my MIL into giving him a bottle nor do I want to take up precious space in my cabinets with bottles I may not need.
Sounds like you are ready! As I wash his clothes and set things out that I want to pack, I realize little things here and there that I don't have. Like changing table sheets (how did I forget to register for those????). And as I was putting some things in his diaper bag, I realized I needed a case of diaper bag wipes. You didn't mention a diaper bag...do you have a diaper bag? are you going to take a blue outfit and a pink outfit? Or just a unisex outfit?
You really don't need a lot for the baby at the hospital. A couple outfits (once you know what the sex is) might be nice just for fun, but really using the hospital T-shirts will save you from having to wash spit up baby clothes right away! We put long sleeve T-shirts on the baby's legs (upside down) to make little pants if the baby seems too cool without them.
Lots of parents bring their own pacifiers if they have a particular kind they want to use. Many bring baby wipes, b/c we only use plain old washcloths. Some even bring their own formula if they plan on using something we don't have, like Good Start or something.
Really, you don't need much. The hospital will have just about everything for the baby. Bring a good book for you, and stuff to pamper yourself with. And snacks--hospital food sucks.
Christie was so right about hospital food. I had a UTI when I delivered my first baby so I threw up alot ( With every contraction & for 2 days after she was born). The food they brought was spaghetti & meatballs one day, fish the other, & sausage for breakfast. Yuck!
Oh ya, the hospital food sucks here in Canada as well. I could vomit just by smelling it. I don't touch it. I've already warned DH to bring in food. You are out the next day here anyway, the sooner the better for me. I can't stand hospitals, they make me too nervous.
I never thought of buying two outfits, good idea, I'll keep the receipts and take the wrong colour back, good thinking Kassimom! No, I don't have a diaper bag yet. I can't find one I like. I've been everywhere looking for one and just not satisfied with any.
Yes, I am ahead of the game now. Baby's nursery is all ready. I may need a few things but nothing major at this point. I was so lucky to be given a ton of useful stuff, seats, 2 car seats, bassinette, crib sheets, receiving blankets, baby towels, blankets. Just everything and for gifts I got all the little cleaning supplies, wash clothes, powder, soap, shampoo, diapers, wipes, stoller, beautiful pictures for the wall in the nursery, even the most beautiful home nitted blankets. I am waiting for a particular dressor to come in that matches the crib, then I will be all set!
You can also try using dental floss.......(I will try to explain this)...put soap on your finger first, then....start the dental floss in front of your knuckle and wrap it until it is right in front of your ring......move the ring until you can grab the end of the dental floss on the back side of the ring (closer to your hand) and then start unwrapping the dental floss........the ring should slide down your finger as the floss is being unwrapped.....
The dental floss idea is from my dh...he says they use that method in the military. Don't ask me if it works but if all else fails it can't hurt to try it before cutting your wedding ring......
Don't wrap the dental floss so tight that it cuts off your circulation.
Hugs and good luck,
Vikki

I go in in 3 wks and I STILL haven't packed!
