Hello ladies,
I hope everyone is doing well today........

OF COURSE I JUST HAVE TO SHOW OFF MY LITTLE ONE TO ANYONE WILLING TO LOOK.......LOL

http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/t/talon/

KCK.........Alright already.....it's time!!!!
We need some good news.

Okay, you and Nina can be like me and Andi were.......
Andi was in pain for awhile and went past her due date (way past I think).....me, I came in from nowhere and the two of us ended up having the boys the same day......as a matter of fact I had mine before her since Talon came just 23 minutes after midnight.

Good luck to you and BTW......I can't believe they haven't already kept you in L & D.....I thought the hospital here was bad not admitting me until I was a 4 but my gosh......I had went to L & D so many times just to be sent home that I wasn't sure when to go back. Finally the pain got so bad that I just decided to go and to hell with their rules I said........LOL
Just be careful, you could jump to a 10 at anytime.......for those that remember my story, I went from a 4 to pushing in less than 90 minutes.

Good Luck,
Vikki

I dilated from 6-10 with my daughter in a flash.  So sitting here at 5cm is extremely unnerving.  I'm afraid when I sit down to go to the bathroom that I will see a head come out.  But I only have to wait 2 more days.  I can do it, I can do it, I can!
OK, now I'm going to go look at your angel.

ROFL.......

"I think I can"

"I think I can"

"I think I can"

I'm sorry, that is the first thing I thought of when I read your post........Thomas the train....right???

I sure hope you aren't far from the hospital.

Thanks......yes, I am enjoying him very much. I remember how quickly they grow. My 9 1/2 year old doesn't need me for much more than food nowadays. Of course sometimes I think that's all Talon thinks I'm good for too........LOL

Good luck girl and keep us posted!!!!!!!
Hugs,
Vikki

To: Goofy question.......
Well, I'm not sure how 'goofy' it is but here it goes.......

I realize all babies develop differently and do things at different ages........

But..........

Isn't 11 weeks a bit early to be sitting up in a walker????

I saw a post on another board where mom was putting baby in walker to watch tv........as you all know my son is 8 weeks and is barely able to control his head.......this is only 3 weeks older than my DS and I just don't see him able to sit up properly at that time to be in a walker....
I figured the walker we bought would stay in the box until at least 4 months or so.........

Imput please!!!!!!

Also, how about rolling over.......I remember my older son had a hard time with rolling over but some moms are stating that their babies are rolling over between 7-9 weeks........
Talon seems to have no desire to roll.

i think my ds was only about 2 months so yah 8-10 weeks when he rolled from front to back (going the other way is a different story.
we took him in for his 2 month appointment and the ped actually said i'd watch him close he is going to roll over any day. i told him yeah ok what ever babies don't do that until like 4 months. he just laughed and said we'll see.  i'll be damned if he didn't roll over 2 days later. i couldn't beleive it.
of course he also walked at 9 months. (btw that isn't always a good thing) haha

Just so you know, it's the little engine that could....I thought of that too...and in my opinion Yes, 11 wks. is a little too young for a walker and to be put in front of a t.v.
Just had to add my 2 cents

Angie.....Daw gone it....I knew I had it wrong. Guess I need to get 're up to date' on all the children stuff.
My older son watches stuff like Pearl Harbor and Superman, he wouldn't be caught dead watching something that was actually for his "age group"......LOL
I too thought 11 weeks was a bit young. And as for the tv....my 8 week old will look at the tv when I walk by it or something and I might stop and let him look for a few seconds but I see no reason he needs to be watching it........there are plenty of things (other than tv) that he could be looking at that will stimulate his brain much better.

Nanci.......that's too funny. Two days later huh. Guess you should have listened.
My older son had a hard time with rolling from back to tummy. He did fine with tummy to back though. I just don't remember when he started doing it. My older son walked early too....about 10 months if I remember right. He never really crawled. He would just 'scoot' around (backwards at that).......I remember his grandpa always used to call him "wrong way worm"........

yes the next time we went in for a check up i told him that he jinxed me. he just laughed. and yes going from back to front was a lot harder for my ds also.

i remember he was very young (at least i thought) when he sat up on his own, but yes i think 11 weeks is too young for the walker or the tv.
(in my opinion) they should at the very least be able to sit up before they go into a walker, and i mean actually sit up not leaned over onto their legs and barrly staying up. otherwise i think it is making their little torso develope faster than what it wants to or should. but that is just my opinion.

we have some friends that compare our their children to everyone elses. so of course when my ds was first born i was so scared that i was going to get caught up in the my kid can do this thing..that when my ds did start doing all of this so early i was afraid it was me rushing him.(of course my ped assured me that babies won't compete even if we try to make them, they do things as they want.)  well then we started to notice that a very good friend of ours, whom we spend a lot of time with, son is 3.5 months older than our ds. well every time their son would reach a mile stone within days our son was trying it too...he was trying to keep up with his buddy.
funny 3.5 months is nothing at 3years but before the age of 1 it is a big leap as far as mile stones go.

To: Nanci.......Walkers
Hey, I found this when I was looking around.......
It claims walkers are for children 8 to 12 MONTHS.......NOT WEEKS.......
I thought 11 weeks was way to early....
This website talks about the dangers of walkers. Not sure it will change my mind about using mine but it was interesting to read.

11wks is WAY too young for a walker AND for tv. In fact I believe I just read that the American Academy of Pediatrics reccomends no television before age 2. (There is also a study of how tv can be related to ADD...but not sure I buy that theory)

Before DD was born, I read that walkers can be unsafe and not good for babies as it gives them mobility they are not ready for, yada yada yada. She was born right when the excersaucer was a hot item. I bought the excersaucer and vowed she would never touch a walker.

When we were registering for this little guy, my DH blew off the whole theory I presented him (mainly because I think he liked the walker that looked like a car). What we compromised on was a stationary walker. It can be locked in place so baby can't move, or it can be unlocked to provide baby mobility.

I see the light! LOL I have realized that with proper supervision, a walker is as safe as any other baby  "entertainer".  As for the mobility thing, as long as baby is not left in it 4 hours  a day and provided with plenty of other stimulating activities, I honestly don't see where a walker hurts.

Talon was in a great mood most of the day so I was able to actually get something done...now if I can just find the time to go downstairs and do the floors......hehe.

I did test, it came back negative.  I put a call in to my Dr and she wants to see if she comes by Monday if not she;ll order a blood test.  I dont think there is any way I could have conceived this month, lets just say timing wasnt even close to ovulation  :)

My daughter rolled from back to tummy at exactly 3 months to the day.  It shocked me because she was laying on a diaper changing pad on a hard floor at work.  After changing her I went to throw away the diaper and when I turned back around, she was face down on the hard floor.  That was before rolling over from tummy to back, which many of you say came first.

As far as TV watching at 11 weeks, I did allow my daughter to watch the Baby Einstein videos that are age appropriate from 1 month.  It wasn't all the time, but most times she would watch it, I would point out colors and objects.  Sometimes it was just long enough for me to get a shower.  However, she was not in a walker.  She was in a bouncy seat, strapped in and head supported.

For the record, I LOVE the Baby Einstein videos.  They are wonderful for brain development.  I am a teacher and would never have turned on random cartoons/TV shows for my daughter (still don't), but those videos are terrific.  I give them at all baby showers, and I see no harm in letting young infants watch something educational like that (on a limited basis, of course).  My daughter was mesmerized by them.

I get mine at Target.  They are 9.99 for VHS and maybe 11.99 for DVD.  I highly recommend them - Mozart, Doolittle, and Neptune are the best.  And at Christmas, my daughter loved Baby Santa's Music Box.
