Hey everyone!

Just thought I would drop a post now because hubby, babe and myself are off for the weekend first thing in the morning.  We are off on a four wheel driving on the beach weekend!  And this morning we went out in our boat and took Josh (4 months) for the first time.  It was amazing, and Josh loved it we even had 4 dolphins swimming around the boat and playing with us!  We call Josh "Adventure Joshie" he is 4 months old and has been on a plane, in a boat, four wheel driving and he has loved it all......nothing bothers him!!!

So what is everyone up to for easter?  We have got Josh so many soft rabbits it's not funny, hubby can't wait until next year so we can treasure hunt for easter eggs!!!

O.k So this is me signing off for now will catch you all when we get back, Just thought I would write now because I won't have time in the morning but I will drop in to check whats going on just before we go so HAPPY EASTER EVEYONE!!!

I think I lost part of my mucous plug. I just went to go pee (again I might add) and while I was sitting there I felt a blob and heard a small splash. I looked of course (who wouldn't) and it looked like (sorry TMI) snot or melted mozzerella cheese, but it wasn't colored or blood tinged that I could tell. It was heavy enough to sink to the bottom. What do you think ?? I'll ask my dr when I go later but was wondering what you guys thought.  According to my dr, tomorrow I end my 35th week.

My Dr said there is a birth control pill out there for breastfeeding moms. Just wondering if anyone has used it or are using it, and if it is effective. Thaks!!

It went well. I felt much better after I left. Basically it's 45 carbs per meal and 15-20 carbs per snack. She said we can have as much protein and fat as we want. She just wants us to watch the carbs. We don't have to count calories. It was interesting. But my doc hadn't ordered the glucose monitor for me and the other 2 girls there got them. I spoke with the dietician and she didn't agree with my doc not having me check my levels. As we all feel, how can I know if what I'm eating is okay if I can't check the levels after I eat. So she gave me the monitor, but couldn't give me the prescription for the refill lancets and test strips. She said I had to get that from my doc. His office is closed on Fridays but I left a voicemail. I have the 10 you start with (well 9 because she showed me how to use it) and that won't get me through the weekend, so if I don't hear from my doc today, I'll call my family doc and see if I can get a prescription out of him. When she showed me how to do it, it was 5:50 and I hadn't eaten since I had pineapple at 3:50. My number was 74. This morning I tested and it was 94. So, so far so good. She said if I wanted to have pizza once a week, it's fine. She said if your levels are high once a week or six times a month, it won't hurt the baby, only if it's consistently high. So I'm gonna have pizza tonight and then test to see how I react. She has you test 2 hours after you eat. I questioned that because I thought it was an hour but she said she isn't interested in what the peak is, only how the levels come down. Does this sound at all similar to what you were told?

Good luck at your appointment, let us know. I have one Monday and I am hoping she will say, O my Lord, you are 9 centimeters and he is fixing to fall out! Just Joking! No not really! Sounds like that could had been part of your mucous plug. I have not personally ever lost mine with my other 2 that I know of but you better bet I check the toilet paper every time I wipe with this  one! Just hoping to find it. Boy, it is something what we women will talk about when we are pregnant! Good day everybody! Danielle

Mine has me test 1 hour afterwards but alot of them do the 2 hour. I wish mine did because there have been times that mine were a little high at an hour but I took it at 2 hours and they had dropped way down. I agree with the splurge every now and then. Like I said, I have been good so Easter Sunday I am pigging out. I am curious to see what they are. How many times did she say test? What does she want your #'s to be at 2 hours afterwards? My fasting #'s are usually between 80 and 95 or so. One tip! Make sure if you have cut up fruit or something sweet that you wash your hands before testing. It will give you a heart attack when you look down and see that outrageous #. Your carb allowance is alot like mine. Except my breakfast is 30 and I can not even eat that because I am really sensitive in the morning. What kind of monitor did she give you? He look at it this way, you do not have much longer and you were diagnosed the same time I was and it had flown by. You will figure it all out and then you will not think twice about it. I haven't. Good luck and glad all went well. Danielle

One more thing...... My doctor called in my prescription for my test strips but I ran out before I could have them refilled so I ordered some online and saved $15. They did not need a prescription. If you want that address let me know. I did not know if your insurance paid for them or not.

by Debra_Maine, Mar 25, 2005 12:00AM
To: shubunkin
I would love the address. My insurance covers it, but I don't know the cost yet. Either $25 or $40. How much was it online? I already got a prescription from my other dr. So I'll be all set for the weekend. She wants the number after 2 hours to be under 120. I have a question for you. She said to test 2 hours after every meal. If you want to know how a snack affects you, then test 2 hours after that. But if I'm not testing after the snack, do I still have to wait 2 hours to eat my next meal? The reason I ask is that if I wait 2 hours after my strawberries at 11:30, I think I'll be starving by 1:30 when I'd get to eat my lunch.

by shubunkin, Mar 25, 2005 12:00AM
To: Debra
If you wanted to test after a snack I would only wait an hour. Because the snacks do not have nearly as many carbs. Does she want you to test after snacks? I usually don't unless I eat something I think I shouldn't had and I am curious as to what it is. You should be fine with fruits. They have no effect on me hardly. I say down and ate a whole grapefruit, some pineapple and half a pimento cheese sandwich and tested mine because that was more than I was suppose to eat for a snack and my sugar was only 78. They say to even out the distance between meals but I usually eat breakfast at around 8 and a snack at 10:00 and I am a early lunch eater so I eat between 11:00 and 11:30. So I would not really worry about waiting 2 hours for lunch. You will know when you take your sugar after lunch if you ate too soon . You just have to play around with it and see how your body adjust. The website is devinemedical.com and just go from there and look up your brand of test strips ect. Mine from the pharmacy are $50 but were 37 on here so. My test strips are some of the more expensive ones anyway I think. Danielle

well I just tried going to the site and it told me it was under  construction. Isn't that a bunch of ****! I will keep looking but I know that was it because I wrote it down. But if you google Diabetes test strips you will find alot of sites you can look on and compare prices.

Thanks so much! I tested 2 hours after breakfast and was 97, so I'm doing fine. I swear I don't have it!!! But the pizza tonight will be the real tester in my mind. Can't wait to see that reading!

wisegirl-
sounds like mucous plug to me...i lost mine with both my kids.
with my first i went into labor 1 week later and with the second i lost part of it at 35 weeks and the rest at 38 and went into labor the day i was due.  so be prepared but don't panic.

shubunkin-
WOW your fasting sugars are 80-95!  holy hannah.
do you know what they are when you aren't pg??
i am hypoglycemic so i used to watch my sugars a lot, (i haven't had a problem in years) but when i did my normal middle of the day i feel great blood sugar reading was 66.
only one time did i ever get a reading during an attack and that was: heart rate of 40, resperations labored, blood pressure at 60/0 and blood sugar level had dropped to 28.  i tell you what that is the most awful thing and weirdest thing to 'see'.  the walls looked like someone was on the other side squeezing little spots like a sponge.  it was also very imbarassing, they called 911 and the paramedics showed up. oh i couldn't beleive it.  so needless to say, take care on easter you don't want to shock your body.

Well the inspection on our home went well.  WE SOLD OUR HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I was so not expecting this.  We have to be out in a month and have so much stuff to pack and no place to go.  We are thinking of building and the developer of the area we are looking said if we build he would pay half of our rent until the house is finished.  We do not know what to do because we found another house that we really like that would fit us perfectly.  I would want to do a little work to it but not much.  Well that is my exciting news.

Debra - So sorry you failed your test.  It won't be forever.  I hope you can still eat what you want.  You may just have to cut back a little.  Enjoy your pizza tonight.  Good Luck to you

To everyone else hope you are having a good day and to all you ready to pop preggers I hope you go soon and quickly.   Take Care to you all.   :o)

Are you saying those are high?????? I have no idea what my non pregnant fastings are. The lowest they have been since I have been testing is 78. My doctor is happy with them. SHe said she wanted a fasting under 100. So I don't know????

Do you count from the start of your meal or the end of your meal for the time to test?

by Wisegirl, Mar 25, 2005 12:00AM
Just got back from dr's.  No dialation :(  He said the same about the mucous plug as nanci. He believes I am starting to loose it and will so in buts and pieces.  He said we'll see next week how things are going.  Had the GBS test, that didn't seem so bad.  Also he was checking my discharge to look for Amnio fluid, which turned out negative.

if you have diabetes or gestational diabetes those are good numbers...real good actually.  it's just that i always thought my normal was low until my sister was telling my that normal healthy person normals at a range of 65 - 80.  so if you look at it like that then yes 95 on a fast would be a little high, but not if you have diabetes.
sorry didn't mean to alarm. i hope this explains my outloud thinking....in a nut shell i just worry that if you actually 'pig out' on easter you could shock your pancrease and make it make your sugars dump.    just be carefull

Deb..... She has me test an hour after I finish. But I think some doctors say do it from the begining. I just took mine after eating a hotdog with chili and cheese and it was 116 after 1 hour. The guidelines say it should be 140 so I am doing good.

nanakay..... thanks, you scared me for just a minute there. When I say pig out I basically mean have a slice of pie  with my meal. I sooooooooooo miss those desserts. And I have been such a good girl! :)

wisegirl.....sorry no dialation yet..but hey ...usually when I dialated it happened very quickly. I remember going in to the doctor and I was at nothing and 2 days later I had him. Of course we are a little early I guess they need a couple more weeks to bake huh. My doctor said as long as I make it to 37 weeks she will be happy and that will be next Thursday .

Congrats on selling your house and thanks for the condolences. But I'm getting used to eating like this. I so hope the pizza doesn't put me over, but if it does, I need to know that. Good luck finding a new house.

oh yah!   way to go blondie, congrats on selling the house!!

oh and about the build or buy dilema....someone i met once gave me some great advice about buying previously owned homes....look real hard at it, then answer this, what would you change about the house?  before answering think about the size of your family, storage space, # of bedrooms, holidays, furniture, kitchen apliances...all that.
then look honestly at your answers.....is it worth it to buy that house and then change all those things or should you keep looking?
good luck

i took the mini pill but not for long. It didn't affect my milk supply but I think my doc said it was only about 75% effective. You should use an additional method of bc if this is what you choose and if you truly don't want another right away. Usually bf alone (I say usually) is a 'slight' form of bc but should not be used as a sole source.
I got pregnant again when ds was 7 months old (not birth control from about 3 months on) but that is after he started solids and slacked off bf a bit.
Best of luck.
BTW there is a ring of some sort that you can have inserted as well that won't affect your milk supply. Andi has that, maybe she will be around to post about her experience.
