CAUTION: If you miss two or more pills in a row, you may become pregnant if you have sex within the next 7 days. You must use a back-up method of birth control during those 7 days and follow the directions below.
For a Day One starter:
If you miss two pills in a row of pills 1-14, take 2 pills as soon as you remember and two pills the next day. Then take one pill each day as follows.
If you miss pills 14 and 15, throw out the rest of the pills and start a new refill.
If you miss 2 pills in row of pills 15-21, throw out the rest of the pills and start a new refill.
If you miss 3 or more pills in a row of pills 1-21, throw out the rest of the pills and start a new refill.
For a Sunday starter:
If you miss two pills in a row of pills 1-14, take 2 pills as soon as you remember and two pills the next day. Then take one pill each day as follows.
If you miss pills 14 and 15, keep taking one pill each day until Sunday. On Sunday, throw out the rest of the pills and start a new refill.
If you miss two pills in a row of pills 15-21, , keep taking one pill each day until Sunday. On Sunday, throw out the rest of the pills and start a new refill.
If you miss 3 or more pills in a row of pills 1-21, keep taking one pill each day until Sunday. On Sunday, throw out the rest of the pills and start a new refill.
If you miss pills 21-28 (contained in some refill packs), you will still be protected. Remember that pills 21-28 are simply "reminder" pills and do not contain any active ingredients. Throw away the missed pills and keep taking one pill each day until you finish the refill. Start a new refill on the day after pill "28".
(A DAY ONE starter, starts the pills on the first day of the menstrual cycle. A SUNDAY starter, starts of the first Sunday following the start of the menstrual cycle)
