Hey, I had a question for you about Doula's and Midwifes on military installations. I noticed in one of your posts you mentioned using those for your birth...

Where are you stationed that they offer that on base? I thought Military hospitals were very much 'traditional' in anything to do with births....    I too am military and for as long as I can remember, have been wanting a water birth or hypno-birthing, and was not at all looking forward to having to give birth in a military hospital. Any info you can share would be great!!!

Hi, you are correct in most miltary bases are "traditional" with births, but my suggestion to you would be to call the labor and delivery dept there on the base and ask if they have any Doula's that are there. Most bases do not hire them, they are usually wives of the active duty that are Doula's. Here on my base there are going to be three so far that I know of that are going to be going for Doula training here on our base, they are all wives of active duty. You might even beable to call housing office, because Doula is concidered a "out of your house job" they have to register that with housing to get an approval before they do it.

Good luck and if you can't find one at your base hospital, I would go to www.DONA.com and there you will beable to find a DOula in your area.
