PCOS, How hard is it really to get pregnant??

Ok, here is the senario.  I am 28, I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 24 after going to the doctor because I thought I was pregnant ( I hadn't had a period in 3 months and figured the home test was just wrong).  I had always had regular periods, so regular that I know what time of day I was going to start, except 1 time and I was pregnant.  The doctor prescribed birth control pills to regulate the PCOS, and told me when I was ready to TTC go off of them and the first few month should be fertile for me.  After about 6 months on the pill I stopped having periods again, and they changed the pills around, this was repeated for the next few years.  In June of 2009 we started TTC.  No results, but I stopped having periods again, so December 2009 I went to the doctor who then said I have insulin resistance and put me on Metformin, I take 2000mg a day. After a 2 months my periods returned and she said I was most likely ovulating again.  So we started actively trying again.  This June 2010 things started to drift off again, no period and no pregnancy.  A few weeks ago I went back to the doctor she gave me 12 days of Provera(she wanted me on Chlomid too, But we really want to go as natural as possible) and wants me to do the OPK's, but I wasn't real certain when to start them.  I just started my first Provera period, and it is very light, barely a spotting, but I have awful cramps.  I am just wondering if this story sounds familiar? Am I the only one with all of this going on?  And why is it so hard to get pregnant when I am trying, but when I was 20 and on the pill it was no problem at all?????
Any help or support would be appreciated!
I have an amazing man that truely believes this is in God's hands, but I believe it is a bit more scientific than that!
