I've been searching like crazy too because of my past history. My ob/gyn is trying to keep a positive opinion and wants to see me next week. On the other handHand or foot spasms Hand tremor, my fertility dr. said to stop the progesterone because I'm headed for a miscarriage. I was pretty upset with that result. I'm just going to keep a positive attitude and wait to see what happens w/the ultrasound. Still hoping for that one person who had this happen and results were much more positive. Thanks for the feedback.
I too have suffered multiple miscarriages and have learned that what is going to happen is going to happen no matter if we do EVERYTHING right or not. It doesn't make it any easier to deal with I understand after having been there myself but for my sanity I had to rationalize it somehow. I wish you the best and hope beyond all hopes that everything works out for you this time. A glimmer of hope for you, I had two miscarriages and swore maybe the third time would be the charms and it has turned out that way.
I have searched the internet high and low trying to find an answer for you but nothing i found was positive. I would talk to my dr about this, especially with the history of miscarriage. Google or ask jeeves are great search engines for these kinds of questions.
i've been through the same thing and had the same thing happen to me once. one question for you- are you taking the progesterone orally or vaginally? my doc says the absorption is better vaginally so you might want to try that if you haven't already. another thing - did your doc up your dose? I was taking one gelcap before bed (think it was 200mg) but I've heard of women on 2 a day (total of 400). If he/she didn't you may want to ask...
i will tell you- I have PCOS with insulin resistance and have suffered 1 miscarriage. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and for the first trimester took 1500 mg of metformin a day and the 200mg progesterone. There is hope for you. I don't think falling progesterone definitely means the pregancy isn't viable. Take it vaginally and try to get your doc to increase the dose. It sure can't hurt.
and good luck. i have a good feeling about it, if that helps at all.
Thank you Stacie. I'm taking the progesterone vaginally. I will inquire about uping the dosage. The thing that amazes me with having PCOS is that I got pregnant w/my first child (now 3) the first try with no complications etc. He did however, come one month early. I never knew I had PCOS until having multiple miscarriages. There is so much information out there, both positive and negative. Thank you for giving me some positive. Good luck with your pregnancy!
you're welcome!! one thing I found interesting about PCOS when I was diagnosed was the fact that it usually onsets about age 25 and gets worse with age. i had 2 children without complications in my early 20's but started trying to get pregnant again at 26 and it took 3 1/2 years and then I miscarried at 8 weeks (found out at 12 weeks that baby had died at 8 weeks) and it took another 18 months for me to conceive this one. It sure is a long road, but it doesn't necessarily have to end in tragedy. :o)
I have PCOS and only 1 ovary because of it. They removed my right ovary 4 years ago. I had a miscarriage 3 years ago and now I am 5 1/2 months pg. My progesterone levels were very low at the beginning and my dr. put me on vaginal progesterone through the 1st trimester. There are people out there that don't believe progesterone helps at all but my baby girl is living proof that it does work.
Once again thank you gals! This website has given me encouragement and hope. I appreciate your input. I will let you know how the u/s goes next week. I pray that there is a heartbeat telling me the pregnancy is going well.
As for PCOS, I'm 35 and just found out a few months ago. Haven't noticed many of the symptoms until 6 months ago when my hair starting to shed more and more. Are the two of you experiencing hair loss? And, does anything help it stop or slow down or will it ever stop on its own? I've done some reading and see a lot of people experiencing hair loss, but nothing about it stopping. Thanks.
