PITOCIN AFTER D

I just happened across this forum and it has really been enlightning for me.  I went to e/r 1/2 with light pink discharge at 12 weeks. Diagnosis-threatened miscarriage. Did see movement on u/s. Follow up 1/3 with ob, no heartbeat. D&C 1/4. In recovery was given iv pitocin. Later at home went thru horrible contractions for several hrs. Is pitocin normal after procedure??

i would think so if you were that far along it was to help your uterus contract back to it normal size because if it didnt it could start bleeding. I am sorry that you have to go through this and i hope all gets better.

Thank you. It has been quite a blow. First pregnancy. Especially after 8 wk u/s looked so good. We're going to try again asap. The whole pitocin thing threw me. I couldn't find any posts relating. It was more painful than the procedure.

i got the pitocin before the d&c and it was horrible. i was 12 weeks and 4 days. my miscarriage was incomplete, the pitocin made me start bleeding harder and passing big clots, just not enough.
