It makes the contractions come sometimes more quickly and definitely than natural contractions would.  I didn't like it much, but probably wouldn't have liked contractions much whether or not they were assisted by pitocin.  LOL

I was induced on February 18th with pitocin.  My dr started by breaking my water, and since that didn't do it they had to give me A LOT of pitocin to get things going.  I had an epidural in already, so it didn't hurt, and it also didn't seem to effect the baby, so my experience was good.  It only took a couple hours until my daughter was born.  The contractions were right on top of each other, so if they're going to give you pitocin I recommend an epidural to go along with it :)

Labor will be painful either way, pitocicn is often used to augment labor even when it starts on its own. If it is unbearable, you can always get an epidural or IV pain meds.

I went through two inductions with pit and w/o meds, so it is tolerable depending on your pain threshold. Now I wasn't all smiles the whole time, labor sucks ; )

I just had it on Thursday and it did not work.  I am only 40 weeks so they sent me home.  It does not hurt at all and they told me to let them know as soon as I started to feel pain for my epidural so I think if I felt pain it would not have lasted long.

Good Luck.
