PRAYERS NEEDED FOR MY BABY GIRL

by New Mommy 2 Be 2007, Mar 04, 2009 12:40AM
Well she is still in the nicu :( I go home in the morning. They check her levels before every feeding every 3 hours they need two in the row to be 65 or higher to lower the i.v , but she goes up and down like it was 61 then it goes to 56 just now earlier she was at 70 then she goes back to 60, so they might just choose to lower her i.v , its up to the whole team of doctors, since she shows no signs of infection, that level might just be normal for her or she will start to pick up, but without the IV her sugar are way lower like in the 30s, so will see. They say because of the stressed in labor is the caused. It was a hard labor for her and for me more for her. The cord was wrapped around twice and she had meconium also. I just pray her sugar levels go higher, I can't believe I have to leave her here. It breaks my heart!

Awwww, I'm sorry honey! I know how hard it must be on you to be home without your new baby girl! Hang in there, sweetie! I'll keep your baby in my prayers... God bless you both! Soon you will have your baby at home with you, not letting you sleep, having a good time and making memories! :)

I too am praying for your baby girl - bless her heart (and yours).  Hopefully her sugar level will stabilize at a good number and you'll be able to take her home!

I know exactley what you are going thorugh.  When I had my DD, she was in the nicu and I had to go home and leave her in the hospital too.  It was horrible, but I lived close to the hospital, so while my mom watched my other 2 children, I spent all of my time with my DD at the hospital.  I was lucky because she was able to come home after 3 days (after I was discharged).  Leaving was one of the hardest things I ever did, but I know it was necessary for her to stay (her oxygen kept dropping and she had to be able to be in a car seat for 2 hours without a drop in her O2 befor they would let her come home.)  If you need to talk, please feel free to PM me anytime.  I will definatley be praying for your little girl.

what happened?  i read that the cord was around her neck...  but what going on w/ her sugars now?  i don't know how common it is for newborns sugar levels to be out of whack...  but this happened to my 3rd dd and she was diagnosed w/ hyperinsulinism.  i'm praying for and for your family.  hope your next update is that her sugars are more stable and she can go home!

her sugar levels without the iv with sugar water was 33 the day she was born she has the iv with sugar water and fluids just now she drank 40 cc so were happy and i think her next sugar test will be atleast 65 or maybe higher, it was 61 at 9 it needs to be 65 or higher twice to drop the iv dose of sugar water, she shows no signs of infection and shes eating better. they are going to lower the fluids so she eats more and give her more sugar water. so its at 11 if she has two test that show 65 or higher they could lower it to 5 then lower and lower ionce she is off and her sugar is stable then 24 hrs after that she gets to come home

i remember my dd being on the iv dextrose also...  they tried to wean her's down too quickly and they kept having to turn it back up.  it was a very stressful time.  she ended up being in the nicu for a month and then going home on meds (and in her case eventually having surgery).  i'm glad she's eating well...  that's great news!  please keep updating when you can!

her sugar levels been in the high 60s! Were so happy! they weaned her iv at 9 pm from 9 to 7 and I just called her nurse and they weaned her at 2 am from 7 to 5, she is eating right now so I have to call back to see how her sugars are again, the last test was 68 so I pray that they are in the high 60s are above that! I hate leaving her, its so hard to be there because carmine he is only 16 months old and he is so mad at me that i left him all these days at first he wouldnt want to com by me, now he follows me and says momma he doesnt want me to go, its like horrible i have to leave my son to go by my daughter and i feel horrible leaving him then i feel horrible leaving her, but my son needs me and is to use to me, so im praying she could come home tommorrow and they keep weaning the i.v then she has to stay 12-24 hrs after the the iv is weaned and if her sugars are stable. Its such a scary ride I hope it just works!

by kennedydp5, Mar 05, 2009 09:08AM
that's great news that she is doing good as they're weaning her.  i know how hard it is being torn between staying and going.  our prayers are w/ you.

she is doing soo much better im at the hospital right now with her. her sugars are high and perfect so if they are at 12am they will take her iv off and if her sugars are stable she can be released 12-24 hrs later and she is drinking the whole bottle just leaving like 3-4 ccs left! i have to keep praying for her
