PREGANCY AND URTICARIA

Hello I have chronic idiopathic urticaria and I just found out I was prego so I stoped my Cimetidin and ALlegra now my face itches so bad anyone can help please?

When I was pregnant my dr had me take Chlor-Trimeton for allergy symptoms, rather than Allegra (but I don't know why). Don't know if this would help alleviate itching for you or not. Many of the antihistimines haven't been fully tested in pregnant women but that doesn't mean they aren't as safe as other drugs people have to take when they're pregnant, your best bet is to check with your doctor. Benadryl cream once in a while might help too, I don't know. I don't think the cream gets into the bloodstream from your skin as much as taking it orally. Hope this helps.

i have cholinergic urticaria...it only happens when i exercise or get upset....and it goes away after a 1/2 of stopping exercise or calming down.  I take zyrtec, it has helped keep this kind of mild.  ask your dr, i am 21+ weeks and i have taken it through my whole pregnancy.  good luck

i just talked to my doc on Friday about taking benedryl and anti topical creams and he said benedryl is perfectly safe but he didn't say how long it can be taken and topical creams are ok and safe to use and do not absorb into the blood stream and he also so some steroid creams are safe as long as they are 1%.  Hope this helps.
