PURPLE JAUNDICE???

QUESTION FOR ANYONE... MY HUSBAND AND I GOT INTO A HEATED DISCUSSION RE: JAUNDICE. HE IS ADIMANT THAT THERE IS SUCH A THING AS " PURPLE JAUNDICE". WORKING IN A LABORATORY FOR A MAJOR MEDICAL FACILITY, I KNOW THERE IS NO SUCH THING. HOWEVER, HE IS INSISTANT DRAWING ON KNOWLEDGE THAT HE CLAIMS HE RECEIVED FROM A HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHER. HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING??? I ALMOST FEEL STUPID EVEN POSTING THIS QUESTION ALREADY KNOWING THE ANSWER, BUT ANY INSIGHT WILL HELP.

jaundice is caused by the levels of Bilirubin in the liver
Because bilirubin has a yellow colour, an excess in the blood causes the person to be jaundiced. hence the yellow skin

(due to slower circulation) It is not a medical emergency - just a term for the purple feet.
