I am 7+weeks pregnant. My appartment is getting painted on exterior. They might be using oil paint. I was not known that i should not smell the fumes at the time of painting. I was in my house, when they started painting my floor exterior. They did it one coat three days back, and today was the second coat. but the smell was too much. for almost 2 hours or more, their painting lift was at my floor level. now i got to know that i shouldn't have smelled the fumes, as it will lead to miscarraige or serious birth defects. I am very much worried. The windows towards exterior were closed, so i was not getting direct smell but still it was very strong. Today, i fell the smell very odd, so i was sitting near my lobby door, keeping it opened. But that door was not opening to open air. As soon as they finished my floor, i opened balcony door, and ventilated my house. although the smell was not lingering all day long, even my balconies walls were not smelling the paint. But i am very much worried. As I already had a missed abortion last year. Plz someone help me.
I really dont think you have anything to worry about, it's not like you had long term exposure to the fumes, it was just a few hours.
If you are still concerned just bring it up at your next appointment but try not to worry, I'm sure baby is fine!
