Passed 3 hr GD test, but I am still worried about having a 10lb baby

So my Dr. had me take the 3 hour GD test because I failed the 1 hour test. Their cut off is 140 and my number came in at 143.His concern was the size of my first, he was 9lb 3oz. My Dr. wanted to confirm as the whether I had GD or not, to possibly keep the size of the baby down if possible. Well since I passed, all he can really do is monitor the size of the baby. Has anyone else ever been in this situation and if so, what was the outcome? Were you induced early if the baby looked to be getting pretty big or did you just have to wait it out?

I had very borderline Gestational Diabetes with two of my pregnancies,  too.  I ended up having a 9 lb 3 oz baby,  as you did,  but mine was nearly all head,  he wasn't fat at all.

You always have the option of going on the Gestational Diabetes diet - it has plenty of calories,  just not a lot of sugar - which is what we decided to do.  It's BORING,  but at least you feel like you're doing the best for your baby.

Best wishes.

HI EVERYONE IM EMMA.
IM 21 WEEKS PREGNANT WITH MY 3RD BABY.
MY OTHER TWO ARE BOYS AND NOW IM HAVING A GIRL.
BOTH OF MY BABIES WERE NEARLY 9LB,AND I HAD NORMAL DELIVERYS.
NO STITCHES.
THEY SAY THAT IT IS NEARLY NORMAL NOWADAYS TO HAVE BIG BABIES BECAUSE OF OUR LIFE STYLES NOT SURE HOW BUT IF YOUR DOCTOR THINKS THAT YOU MAYBE IN RISK OF PROBLEMS THEY SORT SOMETHING OUT FOR YOU BEFORE THE BIG DAY.
I WOULDNT WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT IT UNTIL NATURE TAKES ITS COURSE.
UNTIL THEN YOU WILL WORRY YOURSELF SICK AND YOU DONT WANT TO HAVE YOUR BABY EARLY.
SO TAKE CARE AND I HOPE YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT A HEALTHY BABY.

GOOD LUCK EMMA

my partner was borderline with one of her pregnancies. the baby did end up big, almost 9 lbs, but they wont induce early (at least they didnt in our case) unless the baby really seems enormous. she did end up needing an episiotomy, though.

I am not familiar with all of your questions I am too early to have had to hear about it I guess (18 weekds) but I have a friend who had a 13lb baby in May.  He is the cutest thing but I always wonder why they didn't induce early?

I have had 5 babies. I always failed my 1 hour test and always passed my 3 hour test until my last preg. All of my babies have been between 9-10 lbs until my last one. I didn't have GD with my big babies. With this last one I failed the 3 hour finally. I watched what I ate closely and my baby was 8lb 3oz which is really small for me.

I think cutting down on portions and snacking on nuts instead of sweets is what made the difference for me. I only gained 15 lbs compared to 25-35lbs with my others.

My 8 lb baby hurt just as bad as my 10 lb baby coming out so it really didn't make that much difference.

I was also going to say that they don't induce me early because of big babies, but they don't let me go over my due date either. I am usually induced the week I am due.
