Paxil and Pregnancy? any information???

has anyone ever taken PAXIL during a pregnancy? or do you know of someone who did? i had a miscarriage at 10 weeks in dec. 2004, and at the time i was on PAXIL 12.5 mg, now i am taking 20 mg, and i am scared if i am pregnant i will miscarry again. my ob said that there really arent any long-term studies on paxil and pregnancy. i truly believe that i miscarried because of the paxil. any help?

I took Paxil through about my 7th month and had no problems. My ob said it was ok but It is always better to do without if you can. You have to weigh the pros and the cons.

what was the dosage? how old is your baby now? well, i looked on the internet, and recent studies claim that babies are born lethargic, low apgar scores at first, but after a while they appear normalized. they also state that the babies have withdrawal symptoms in the first weeks, and that they are more likely to be underweight. can you give me more insight as to your baby?

He was born perfectly healthy, screaming his little head off, perfectly pink! He weighed 7 lb 14oz. He was 10 days early. which is normal. He had no problems whatsoever or does he to this date. Like I said, I did stop when I was 7 months just becasue I wanted too not because ob suggested it. She said it was fine to take through pregnancy and I have known people who did and were fine also. I am sure it is better not to take if you can as they say with anything. I was taking the 12.dose also.

oh, thank you so much. i feel better now. so he was a healthy boy, huh. i think that if you are helthy and take care of yourself, than you will beat the odds! thanks again.

Yes I am currently pregnant and on Paxil and pregnant 20mg and was also taking paxil when I was pregnant 3 years ago with my daughter.  As a nurse I am very cautious about taking anything while I am pregnant but after talking with my doctor and waying out the pros and cons I felt that comfortable with taking Paxil while I was preganant.  On a side note my daughter actually has the best disposition out of all my children (smile).
