Peanut butter

Peanut butter

I was wondering if anyone knows about this. I understand the importance of not giving a baby any peanut products until the the age of one, but how about when you are pregnant.Should I stay away from it or does it not work that way???

Good question.  I have never heard that.  I am eating peanut butter like carzy - sometime by the spoon fulls.  I don't think it hurts the unborn child, but I don't really know.

Unless ther is a history of allergies in your family it shouldn't pose a problem, it is a very good source of protein, you need lots of protein during your pregnancy.

There is some research to support the theory that prenatal nut exposure can lead to nut allergies in the child.  Not overwhelming proof, but just some suggestion that it is prudent to avoid eating nuts frequently during pregnancy.

I was told not to give them to children under 3.

Pregnancy is fine provided your family does not have a peanut allergy.

it is said that at one it should be ok. but with allergies you should wait till 3 for peanut butter. some say its ok at 1. peanut butter can cause choking. as far as pregnancy i dont think peanut butter has any complications. id stay away from honey though. you can get (i dont remember how to spell it correctly) botchilism.

peanut butter (nuts in general) and honey shouldnt be given till the age of 3 i think. studies show that giving babies foods too early can lead to allergies.
