Period after miscarriage

by kathie75, Sep 08, 2003 12:00AM
I had a mc on July 29th. I spotted for almost a month on a daily basis. Not much a tiny bit. Then it just stopped. We have been ttc right about the time the spotting stopped. That was about 11 days ago. I don't want to get my hopes up on anything silly. Does anyone know if it would even be possible to get pregnant during that time? Can you get pregnant without having an actual period or cycle?
Any comments or experiences are welcomed!!

The short and sweet answer..yes you can get pg before getting a preiod. There have been a few ladies who have posted on here beofre stating that veryt hing happened to them : )

But be aware that your first cycle or even first few cycles can be very different after a m/c. I was on a 35 day cycle before I got pg in May. When my m/c completed in early July, I was told by my oB i should get my cycle about a month later. Well, it actually took 6 weeks. And I swear I had every s/s of being pg for about 2 weeks before i started.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Good Luck!

I am in the same boat, I had a m/c on aug 5th, Only I bleed for a short period like 6 days and that was it, I went in at 2 weeks and my levels were down, so now I am just waiting for AF, we have been trying since I stopped bleeding also, but I don't know when to expect it. They told me 4 to 6 weeks and I am at about 4/5 weeks and I keep thinking I might be pg., but then I think well it could be in my head too, so I just don't know what to expect. I don't want to get excited or disappointed so I amjust feeling---I don't know, I don't know what to feel. I want to be excited about the prospect of getting pg. But I am so nervous too. I know you all know that feeling. I have been feeling bloated, tired and a little bit of sore breasts, but that comes with AF too. So We'll just have to wait and see.
Andrea, how long should I wait to get AF? YOu know before I should take a HTP or call the dr.? I have heard 6 weeks, but then I read in a book 8 weeks, That seems too long, Thanks for any advice, KEndra

I am not sure. Heck I was testing at 4-5 weeks, lol. I would say wait until 6 weeks. If you still haven't started and get a (-) wait another week.

I didn't have any s/s of AF coming, it just did one day. About 3-4 days before my bbs weren't as tender and my nausea started to subside. But I didn't have any cramping or bloating. It was kind of weird.

But to save some money and heartache, I would definitely wait until the 6 week mark to start testing. If you haven't started my then and get a neg, maybe rather than testing again, call your OB and see what they think.

Good Luck!

I know that this may sound a little silly, but are you talking 6-8 weeks after m/c or 6-8 weeks after spotting? The reason I ask is because I spotted for almost a full 4 weeks.

I don't know if you seen my response, but my question is when you said to wait 6 weeks, do you mean from the actual m/c because I have spotted for almost a full month from the m/c. And as of today it has been 6 weeks and I have not had a normal period.

I'm kind of confused on that too. I began my m/c on August 2nd and I have had bleeding/spotting since then. (no D&C done). It would be too hard to tell if somewhere in there a period took place.  I started a birth control pack on the 15th and according to it I should be starting Wednesday but I have no signs of AF coming. So basically my confusion is whether or not I have had a cyle or not. There was a week (the 18th) where the bleeding got heavier and I had cramping, my OBGYN thinks that could have been my cycle but just told me not to worry.  I guess I'll find out Wednesday.

Heather,
I see what you are tlkaing about too. I did not have any days where the spotting was heavier than any other day. I did not start any birth control, but we have been ttc. I have had no signs of AF or of pregnancy symptoms. I simply don't know. My doctor really has not been much help on anything. So if you or anyone can give some advice I am all ears ;-)

I can only give you informationon what happened to me---I had my D&C on April 28--bled for about a week--more like spotting--then it ended--then I happened to get pregnant again on May 23---so about 2 weeks after the bleeding stopped I ovulated and got pregnant again. So I would say after the bleeding stops then it could be about 4 weeks before you start back on a somewhat regular schedule. It all depends on how much HcG is in your system.

My m/c spotting started on the 20th of June and did not complete until july 2nd, sparse spotting for 2 more days following that. My OB says from the day the m/c ends. I had a real obvious sign that mine was complete as I passed a very large mass whcih was assumed to have been the placenta. My spotting only lasted 2 days beyond that. If you have passed a large amoujnt of clots and blood already, that would have been the actual m/c. If the spotting is continuing much beyond that, gt into the OB so they can make sure it is a complete m/c.

There was a complete m/c. I had a D&C on July 29th. On August 12th they did a blood test and saw that my level was well below 100. I still spotted for almost a complete 30 days after that. I did pass a few clots but nothing larger than a quarter. I stopped spotting on the 29th of August. So I am trying to figure out when I will be "regular" again so that we can try again ;-)
I am wondering if at this point if I can get pregnant at any time without having a normal cycle since then. Which I am sure I can. I have another appointment with my OB on the 15th so we will see what he says.

I experience an m/c on Sept.13, 2003. I was 6 weeks pregnant. I bleed for two days. I stopped bleeding that Sunday. I didn't have an d/c. I quess I had a complete miscarriage. But what I want to know is how long does it take for your cycle to start again? Because we are really anxious to get pregnant again. Also my doctor really didn't say much about anything. Just normal if it continues to bleed or soak pads to come back. Nothing really helpful. Because it has been 30 days since I stopped bleeding. But on the 27 & 28th of last month I spotted a little both those days. On the 27th it was kinda bright red then teh 28th was like when  your cycle is going off.So is it possible that we could already be pregnant again. I have this pain in my lower abodomen, headaches, frequent urination, and back aches. So please let me know what you all think. Becasue I 'm kinda scared. My doctor's appointment isn't until November 4th.
