Pink, puffy area above c-section incision

Hi All, I had an emergency cesarean 3 weeks ago and I've started to notice over the last few days that there is a pink area of skin running horizontally above the incision, approximately 4 inches by 1 inch. It appears slightly puffy as well. I have no fever or discharge or puss or redness on the actual incision line, but it strikes me as a little odd. Any thoughts what this could be, or if I should be rushing to see my doctor? I see my midwife on Monday....

Thanks!

Hi!
Yes, please consult your doctor immediately. It could just be a collection of serous discharge due to oozing of fluids from the tissues or it could be a localized infection. It can also be a weakening in the scar tissue, which can be dangerous. Do fix up an early appointment with your doctor. Take care!
