Placenta Previa Diagnosis - HELP, VERY WORRIED!

Placenta Previa Diagnosis - HELP, VERY WORRIED!

Ok, I am extremely afraid as I have been diagnosed with partial placenta previa.  My doctor didn't think much of it, and said it may resolve itself - then, this past Monday while just sitting at my desk, I started bleeding profusely.  So badly I thought for sure the baby was not going to make it.  We rushed to the ER and I spent a week in the hospital on magnesium and fetal monitors.  I've been put on bed rest, and everyone has told me that once you bleed with previa, you will definitely bleed again - just a matter of time.  I am only about 27 weeks along, and am PETRIFIED that my baby will be seriously premature.  The doctors don't think I can get even another 4-6 weeks before another bleed, and that I'll have to have a C-section.  Has ANYONE had this condition before, and made it to a safe zone??  I need to get to at least 32 weeks in order for the baby to have a good chance not only at survival, but of not having long term disabilities.  I am SO SCARED right now, just on bedrest and waiting to bleed again.  Please, any stories or advice would help greatly.

Thanks.

While I can't tell you to relax, I've seen many women with placenta previa carry for many weeks after a major bleed.  Some bleed many times.  Some need transfusions from time to time if they bleed often.

The majority will have one or two big bleeds, and will unfortunately deliver early.  While it would be great to get to 32 weeks, many infants can and do survive intact and healthy even if they are delivered earlier.  All you can do is to follow your doctors advice to the letter about bedrest, taking iron supplements, any tocolysis that is prescribed to you, and eventually steroids when they are prescribed (if not already).

with my first I had placenta previa
once they told me it was safe to resume normal activities (around 36 weeks)  I did everything and he came out fine and healthy on due date

cervical rest and staying off feet as much as possible made everything ok

also - as long as you are getting your steroids - all should be Ok if youc an keep it in there 4 more weeks!

Hi there! I had this problem with my son; I was on strict bedrest and constantly bleeding. Around 7/8 months they did an ultrasound and the placenta had moved on its own. (No c-section) I delieved him at 39 weeks. After months and months of trying to prevent bleeding and preterm labor. My prayers are with you!

i had this with my first also, i bleed on and off around my 16th week, my doctor wasnt very concerned either, i stayed off my feet and luckly my placenta moved nice and high on its own, just be careful, dont lift anything over 15 pounds (at least thats what my dr said) and hopefully it will resolve itself,
