Placental Abruption and Asprin

by wadesmommy, Sep 29, 2004 12:00AM
I have had four miscarriages (early 6-8 wks)and recently we lost our son Wade at 35 weeks due to placental abruption.  We have one healthy three year old son Henry.  I was instructed to take a baby asprin daily until 32 weeks because I had a low positivie for autophospholipid antibodies.  Following our loss I was tested again and tested negative for autophospholipids.  However, my husband tested positive for Factor V.  We're hoping to have more children...and I'm not sure if baby aspirin would be helpful or harmful since I've seen articles linking aspirin and placental abruption.  Is there any data on the link between paternal Factor V and placental abruption?

i am noticing that this question is going unanswered....i'm guessing because no-one has had to deal with this..

first of all i am sorry for your losses, and unfortunately i am amoung the masses that don't know anything about your question.

what is factor V anyway??

my best advise is to put it in Gods hands.
good luck to you in the future.

I don't know anything about your situation, but I just wanted to say I'm so sorry about your loss it must have been heartbreaking!!

While this board is good for helping you, sometimes I get so angry reading stuff like this, especially when I think about these people that get pregnant and don't want it, why can't it be the people that want children that get pregnant and have healthy pregnancy's?

I hope all goes well for the future, good luck.. I wish I could take away your worries :(

I am also sorry to hear of your loss-you are obviously a strong couple to have come through that....I admire your courage, and it is obvious that you are trying to take some control. I would also suggest checking out some medical website to research Factor V and related conditions. Mayo Health clinic has a wonderful site. If you have access to a university library, medline is a great tool to search medical articles.
Perhaps your family doc might have some info also?
Good luck!

I am wondering, why didnt the doctors take your baby out via c-section before the 35 weeks? I've been diagnosed with a small tear and have been looking for answers myself.
