Please help!! Doppler Question!!

by simi_27, Jan 18, 2008 04:39AM
Hi everyone

I am 14 weeks pregnant. On 15th jan, I went for my dating scan. I supposed I would be 13 weeks 4 days pregnant (from my LMP) but ultrasound said i was 14 weeks 1 day.. which also move due due date 4 days ahead.

We saw heartbeat and baby and sonographer said everything looks fine.

But yestereday ie 17th,  I had my regular prenatal appointmnet with midwife. She tried to hear the baby's heartbeat with doppler but couldnt find it. She could hear the blood flow through placenta which she said was good and it might be early to detect the heartbeat by doppler or baby's position is not allowing it to be heard.

She reassured me that there shouldnt be anything wrong bcoz I just had an ultrasound 2 days back and everything was fine then.

I also didnt have any bleeding or cramping. my severe morning sickness is getting better..but it should anyway be getting better by now.

I am now worried. my next appt is not until 26th feb and i dont know what to do!

I wanted to ask you about your experiences with doppler.

Please help!!!!

Thanks!!

Don't worry!!  For some reason the dopplers never worked on me.  I'm 21 weeks along and they have only been able to find a heart beat with a doppler 3 times up untill 19 weeks.  It always freaked me out, but they would do a u/s and all was well everytime.  Thankfully now the baby is big enough now that I can feel her moving around in there, its a big stress reliver!  Usually you start to feel the baby between 18-22 weeks, your almost there!  Just hang in there!  If you ever have bad cramping, spotting, or bleeding you need to be seen, but I think everything is ok.  I hope that helps!  Do take care!
